Full description

This is a 2-hour experience from Hiroshima, built around Miyajima Omotesando Shopping Street, Itsukushima Floating Torii Gate and Itsukushima Shrine. It is run by F and five., an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Fushimi Inari Taisha is the head shrine of Inari, the deity of rice and business, and its thousand-plus vermilion torii gates, each donated by a company or family, run in tunnels up the 233-metre Mount Inari behind the main hall. The full loop to the summit is about four kilometres and two hours; most visitors turn back at the Yotsutsuji viewpoint halfway. It is open 24 hours and free, which makes it the one big Kyoto sight you can do at dawn or after dark, when the gates are empty and lit. By nine in the morning the lower tunnels are a slow queue. The fox statues carry keys to the rice granary in their mouths.

The price covers tour guide, Short breaks and Hidden gems. It does not cover Food and drinks, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

Miyajima Ferry Terminal. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with F and five. before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Leo was very knowledgeable about the history of the island, the shrine and temple we visited. He has a lot of interesting anecdotes, and can give recommendations about what to try for food and drink (I did try the lemon soda and it was very good). We saw some deers, they were so sweet.

Leo was an amazing tour guide in Miyajima! He was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and made me feel welcome. As a solo traveler, I especially appreciated how helpful and considerate he was, he kindly offered to take all of my pictures, which allowed me to fully enjoy the experience and keep wonderful memories of the trip. His positive attitude and enthusiasm made the tour even more enjoyable. I highly recommend Leo to anyone visiting Miyajima. Thank you for making my day so special!

I had such a lovely tour with Leo! I was actually the only person who signed up, and it really meant a lot that he still went ahead with the tour. He is incredibly thoughtful and genuinely wants you to get the most out of your visit. I would highly recommend this tour!

We loved the tour. Leo was very informative and happy to answer all out questions. He has a great knowledge of the area and customs. We weren't rushed at all and learned things we would not have known otherwise. So glad we did the tour and not wandered around on our own. Thanks Leo :)

We chose a 9am tour and it was great decision because of the crowd. Our guide Leo was amazing. This was probably our best tour in whole trip. The pace was optimal, Leo gave us great recommendations for food (we tried all of it) and also lot of useful information about Japan and Miyajima. All in all, super experience and would definitely recommend!

Shoes off at every hall, quiet voices, and no photographs inside the halls unless a sign allows it. At a shrine, rinse hands and mouth at the basin, then bow twice, clap twice and bow once; at a temple, hands together without clapping. Dress is relaxed, but shoulders and knees covered is the courteous choice.

Late March to early April for cherry blossom (2026 full bloom landed around March 29-31), or October-November for autumn color and oyster season. August 6 brings the Peace Memorial Ceremony — moving, but the city is at its most crowded. See our best time to visit Hiroshima guide.
The Hiroden streetcar (flat ¥240) covers most sights, and the meipuru-pu loop bus is free with a JR Pass. Miyajima is a ¥200 ferry ride plus the ¥100 visitor tax. Full fares and passes in getting around Hiroshima.
Two days is the sweet spot: day one for the Peace Memorial Park, Museum and city, day two for Miyajima Island. Our 2-day Hiroshima itinerary maps it hour by hour.
Plan 2-3 hours for the park and museum together — the museum is just ¥200 and opens from 7:30 AM. Etiquette, monuments, and timing tips are in our Peace Memorial Park guide.
The torii appears to float at tide levels above ~250cm, and you can walk out to its base below ~100cm — a single day often offers both. Check tide tables before you go; the full trick is in our Miyajima Island guide.
Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki — layered, not mixed like Osaka's, with soba inside — plus winter oysters and momiji manju on Miyajima. Okonomimura's 24 stalls are the classic first stop. See the Hiroshima food guide.
Miyajima is the essential one; beyond it, Iwakuni's Kintai Bridge and Okunoshima (Rabbit Island) are both doable by train. Honest rankings and logistics in our Hiroshima day trips guide.
