Full description

This is a 10-hour experience from Mount Fuji, built around Bus/coach, Lake Ashi and Owakudani Valley. It is run by Japan Vision Tour, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Mount Fuji is 3,776 metres, Japan's highest mountain and an active volcano that last erupted in 1707. Day tours from Tokyo go to the Fuji Five Lakes on its north side, about two hours away: Lake Kawaguchiko for the classic reflection view, Oshino Hakkai's spring-fed ponds, the Chureito Pagoda above Fujiyoshida with the mountain behind it, and often the Fuji Subaru Line to the 5th Station at 2,300 metres when the road is open, roughly April to November. The summit is climbable only in July and August. Fuji is visible on roughly a third of days and most often in winter mornings; from June to September it is hidden in cloud more often than not, and no operator can promise the view, so the lakes and the pagoda are planned as worth the day on their own.

The price covers bilingual guide, Comfortable vehicle with A/C, Round-trip transfers to and from the meet up location and All taxes. It does not cover Meals and beverages, Other personal expenses, Admission to Hakone Sightseeing Cruise and Admission to Hakone Ropeway, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

Japan Vision Tour sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Japan Vision Tour before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Our guide Eric was really, really nice! Helpful, kind, friendly, and informative! Everything was exactly on time, as described. The first half of the day was admittedly fast-paced, but the second one was more relaxed. I enjoyed it all, nonetheless! Definitely recommend this tour 😊

We had a great time on the tour! The ropeway to Owakundani is not to be missed and I’d definitely recommend the black eggs. Our guide Keiko was friendly, funny, and kept everything moving smoothly. I’d highly recommend the whole experience!

My guide Kyo talked very informatively, his English is excellent, everything went fine. It was worth to do the tour, we had luck with the weather and could make beautiful pictures. The traffic was not as bad as predicted.

Great experience exploring Lake and the volcanic areas near Hakone. The views were incredible, and the itinerary was well organized from start to finish. We were also very lucky to catch a clear view of Mount Fuji in June. A special thanks to our guide Christy, who was absolutely outstanding and very knowledgeable, she made the entire trip truly special. She shared so much interesting information in a clear and engaging way. Always smiling, very professional, she truly made the experience memorable and fun.

Our tour guide Kate (Hui Song) is very friendly and helpful, speaks very clearly and fluently in both English and Chinese. She answered all questions and helped as much as she could, not only about the tour but also recommended shops and restaurants, shopping items and typical local food. I am grateful for her service and appreciate her help and generosity. I had a great memorable day. Love it. Thanks.

Really fun heading out into the mountains, across the lake in a pirate ship and then up the mountain in a cable car. We picked the one sunny day of the week, during a national holiday and during blossom season so very busy! No problem for our driver and guide Brewster who got us everywhere we needed in good time while sharing funny stories and interesting cultural information. Would definitely recommend thanks so much for our fun Mt Fuji day! šŸ—»

Nobody can promise it. Fuji is clear on roughly a third of days, most often on winter mornings, and from June to September it is in cloud more often than not. The tour runs regardless and the lakes, the pagoda and the ropeway are planned to be worth the day without the summit. There is no refund for cloud.

Only during the official season, roughly early July to early September — exact dates are announced each year per route. Outside it the mountain huts close, and climbing becomes a serious mountaineering proposition rather than a hike. A mandatory climbing fee and a daily cap now apply on the Yoshida route, with the other routes following. Full detail in our guide to climbing Mount Fuji.
Counterintuitively, winter — the cold, dry air gives the clearest views, while humid summer haze often hides the mountain entirely. That means the climbing season is also the worst viewing season. Where and when to look is covered in our Mount Fuji viewpoints guide.
An Odakyu pass covering the whole Hakone loop — Tozan railway, cable car, ropeway, Lake Ashi boats and buses — for less than buying the legs separately. How the loop works and which direction to travel it is in getting around Hakone.
It varies. Many traditional baths still refuse tattoos, some now allow them with cover stickers, and a private bath (kashikiri) is the reliable workaround. Bathing etiquette and how to find tattoo-friendly options are in our Hakone onsen guide.
It was listed in 2013 for its influence on art, literature and pilgrimage — not for its geology. That is why the listing includes places like Oshino Hakkai and the Sengen shrines, not just the peak itself. Background in our climbing Mount Fuji guide.
Two days lets you do the loop without rushing and still soak properly in an onsen — a single day works but means moving constantly. Our Hakone 2-day itinerary maps it out hour by hour.
Most Hakone and Mt. Fuji private tours here are priced for the whole party, not per traveller — the operator is providing a vehicle and a guide, so a group of four pays the same as a couple. The exceptions are the group summit climbs, which are genuinely per person. Each tour page states which model applies.
