Full description
This is a 5-day experience in Mount Fuji, built around Tokyo → Karuizawa → Nagano, Nagano → Shinhotaka Ropeway → Matsumoto and Mount Fuji & Lake Kawaguchi. It is run by Connecting Plus co., Ltd., an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Mount Fuji is 3,776 metres, Japan's highest mountain and an active volcano that last erupted in 1707. Day tours from Tokyo go to the Fuji Five Lakes on its north side, about two hours away: Lake Kawaguchiko for the classic reflection view, Oshino Hakkai's spring-fed ponds, the Chureito Pagoda above Fujiyoshida with the mountain behind it, and often the Fuji Subaru Line to the 5th Station at 2,300 metres when the road is open, roughly April to November. The summit is climbable only in July and August. Fuji is visible on roughly a third of days and most often in winter mornings; from June to September it is hidden in cloud more often than not, and no operator can promise the view, so the lakes and the pagoda are planned as worth the day on their own.
The price covers 5-day tour from Tokyo, Private Vehicle and 4-night accommodation & Breakfasts. It does not cover Lunches & Dinners, Personal expenses, Ropeway ticket and Travel insurance, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
Connecting Plus co., Ltd. sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Connecting Plus co., Ltd. before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.
Tour Itinerary
The schedule below is a suggested plan and can be adjusted to suit your preferences.
Tokyo → Karuizawa → Nagano
Depart Tokyo and journey into the scenic highlands of Central Japan. Your first stop is Karuizawa, one of Japan's most prestigious mountain resorts, renowned for its elegant atmosphere, boutique shopping, and beautiful seasonal scenery. After exploring this charming mountain town, continue to Nagano, where you'll check into your hotel for the first of a two-night stay.
Nagano → Zenkoji Temple → Kamikochi → Nagano
Begin the morning with a visit to the historic Zenkoji Temple, one of Japan's oldest and most revered Buddhist temples. Continue into the heart of the Northern Japan Alps to discover the breathtaking beauty of Kamikochi, where crystal-clear rivers, towering mountain peaks, and peaceful walking trails create one of Japan's most spectacular natural landscapes. After a full day surrounded by alpine scenery, return to Nagano for your second overnight stay.
Nagano → Shinhotaka Ropeway → Matsumoto
Depart Nagano and travel through the scenic Japanese Alps to the spectacular Shinhotaka Ropeway, Japan's only double-decker aerial cable car. Ascend to over 2,150 metres above sea level and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Northern Japan Alps.
Matsumoto Castle, Narai-juku & Mount Fuji
Begin the day with a visit to the iconic Matsumoto Castle, one of Japan's finest original National Treasure castles. Continue to Narai-juku, a beautifully preserved Edo-period post town along the historic Nakasendo Trail, where traditional wooden buildings and charming streets offer a glimpse into Japan's past. Afterwards, travel to the Mount Fuji area and settle into your hotel, ready to enjoy the region's stunning natural beauty the following day.
Mount Fuji & Lake Kawaguchi
Start your day in the Mount Fuji area and enjoy the breathtaking scenery surrounding Japan's most iconic peak. Visit Lake Kawaguchi and Oishi Park, one of the best locations to admire spectacular views of Mount Fuji, especially on clear days.
