Full description

This is a 9-hour experience in Mount Fuji. It is run by JRT Group, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Mount Fuji is 3,776 metres, Japan's highest mountain and an active volcano that last erupted in 1707. Day tours from Tokyo go to the Fuji Five Lakes on its north side, about two hours away: Lake Kawaguchiko for the classic reflection view, Oshino Hakkai's spring-fed ponds, the Chureito Pagoda above Fujiyoshida with the mountain behind it, and often the Fuji Subaru Line to the 5th Station at 2,300 metres when the road is open, roughly April to November. The summit is climbable only in July and August. Fuji is visible on roughly a third of days and most often in winter mornings; from June to September it is hidden in cloud more often than not, and no operator can promise the view, so the lakes and the pagoda are planned as worth the day on their own.

The price covers 9-hour full-day private tour from Tokyo to Mount Fuji and, guide or driver, Free hotel pick-up and drop-off service, Comfortable private transportation throughout the tour and Fully customizable itinerary. We booked an 8-hour private charter tour for our group of eight people, and it turned out to be the best decision for our Tokyo trip! Our tour guide GAN was incredibly professional, patient, and thoughtful throughout the whole day. GAN specially tailored a personalized one-day itinerary for us, skillfully arranging a smart route to bypass large crowds and popular tourist peak hours. Thanks to the great planning, we avoided long queues and crowded spots, letting us sightseeing at a relaxed and leisurely pace. The chartered vehicle was clean, spacious and comfortable, perfectly fitting our group

We had the most wonderful day exploring Hakone with TIM as our private guide! What we loved most was his unique local insight — he skipped all the overcrowded sightseeing spots and took us to exclusive hidden locations with stunning natural landscapes and peaceful vibes. Every secret spot he recommended was absolutely breathtaking and perfect for taking unique travel shots. TIM explained Hakone’s nature, volcanic culture and local lifestyle vividly with fluent English. He was attentive, flexible and always made sure we felt comfortable and enjoyed every moment. If you want a special, non-touri

Leo was a super guide. He never rushed us and happily let us stay longer at Himeji Castle because we were so fascinated. He also took us up the Mt. Shosha ropeway – a quiet spot he suggested for sunset and night views over the city. It was stunning. Overall excellent value; his willingness to adapt the schedule to what we loved made the tour feel truly personal.

Nobody can promise it. Fuji is clear on roughly a third of days, most often on winter mornings, and from June to September it is in cloud more often than not. Only during the official season, roughly early July to early September — exact dates are announced each year per route. Outside it the mountain huts close, and climbing becomes a serious mountaineering proposition rather than a hike. A mandatory climbing fee and a daily cap now apply on the Yoshida route, with the other routes following. Full detail in our guide to climbing Mount Fuji.
Counterintuitively, winter — the cold, dry air gives the clearest views, while humid summer haze often hides the mountain entirely. That means the climbing season is also the worst viewing season. Where and when to look is covered in our Mount Fuji viewpoints guide.
An Odakyu pass covering the whole Hakone loop — Tozan railway, cable car, ropeway, Lake Ashi boats and buses — for less than buying the legs separately. How the loop works and which direction to travel it is in getting around Hakone.
It varies. Many traditional baths still refuse tattoos, some now allow them with cover stickers, and a private bath (kashikiri) is the reliable workaround. Bathing etiquette and how to find tattoo-friendly options are in our Hakone onsen guide.
It was listed in 2013 for its influence on art, literature and pilgrimage — not for its geology. That is why the listing includes places like Oshino Hakkai and the Sengen shrines, not just the peak itself. Background in our climbing Mount Fuji guide.
Two days lets you do the loop without rushing and still soak properly in an onsen — a single day works but means moving constantly. Our Hakone 2-day itinerary maps it out hour by hour.
Most Hakone and Mt. Fuji private tours here are priced for the whole party, not per traveller — the operator is providing a vehicle and a guide, so a group of four pays the same as a couple. The exceptions are the group summit climbs, which are genuinely per person. Each tour page states which model applies.
