Full description

This is a 10-hour experience in Mount Fuji. It is run by Pegasus観光株式会社, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Mount Fuji is 3,776 metres, Japan's highest mountain and an active volcano that last erupted in 1707. Day tours from Tokyo go to the Fuji Five Lakes on its north side, about two hours away: Lake Kawaguchiko for the classic reflection view, Oshino Hakkai's spring-fed ponds, the Chureito Pagoda above Fujiyoshida with the mountain behind it, and often the Fuji Subaru Line to the 5th Station at 2,300 metres when the road is open, roughly April to November. The summit is climbable only in July and August. Fuji is visible on roughly a third of days and most often in winter mornings; from June to September it is hidden in cloud more often than not, and no operator can promise the view, so the lakes and the pagoda are planned as worth the day on their own.

The price covers Hotel pickup and drop-off across greater Tokyo, Scenic local train ticket, Swan boat cruise on Lake Yamanaka and WhatsApp group set up the day before. It does not cover meals and beverages and Panoramic Ropeway ticket, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

Visited some great places! The first stop at the lake was breathtaking. The last stop at the swans was beautiful too. Limited places for lunch so it’s worth taking a packed lunch. Tour guide was friendly but spoke no English so we were unable to communicate with him. Other members of the group had to translate for us. We were told there would be an English speaking guide so it was disappointing that we missed out on some information. But he did try his best to accommodate.

Good value and a well-planned small group tour. We saw Mt. Fuji from different spots, had enough free time, and everything ran smoothly without waiting around. Would recommend.

It was good but doesn't include to go inside of the mountain. The tour includes a few stops in different cities but the time was too short to explore and buy something.

The view from Mount Fuji was absolutely stunning. The trip was also quite comfortable, with minimal disturbances. I love traveling in small groups like this.

I wonder if the others made it to the trip, or if they also lost their money. Our trip was rescheduled to be 40 minutes earlier from 8:00am to 7:20am, and we were only notified at 9:35pm the night before, while we were asleep, so we missed out on the trip. Buyers beware

Nobody can promise it. Fuji is clear on roughly a third of days, most often on winter mornings, and from June to September it is in cloud more often than not. Only during the official season, roughly early July to early September — exact dates are announced each year per route. Outside it the mountain huts close, and climbing becomes a serious mountaineering proposition rather than a hike. A mandatory climbing fee and a daily cap now apply on the Yoshida route, with the other routes following. Full detail in our guide to climbing Mount Fuji.
Counterintuitively, winter — the cold, dry air gives the clearest views, while humid summer haze often hides the mountain entirely. That means the climbing season is also the worst viewing season. Where and when to look is covered in our Mount Fuji viewpoints guide.
An Odakyu pass covering the whole Hakone loop — Tozan railway, cable car, ropeway, Lake Ashi boats and buses — for less than buying the legs separately. How the loop works and which direction to travel it is in getting around Hakone.
It varies. Many traditional baths still refuse tattoos, some now allow them with cover stickers, and a private bath (kashikiri) is the reliable workaround. Bathing etiquette and how to find tattoo-friendly options are in our Hakone onsen guide.
It was listed in 2013 for its influence on art, literature and pilgrimage — not for its geology. That is why the listing includes places like Oshino Hakkai and the Sengen shrines, not just the peak itself. Background in our climbing Mount Fuji guide.
Two days lets you do the loop without rushing and still soak properly in an onsen — a single day works but means moving constantly. Our Hakone 2-day itinerary maps it out hour by hour.
Most Hakone and Mt. Fuji private tours here are priced for the whole party, not per traveller — the operator is providing a vehicle and a guide, so a group of four pays the same as a couple. The exceptions are the group summit climbs, which are genuinely per person. Each tour page states which model applies.
