Full description

This is a 10-hour experience from Mount Fuji, built around Bus/coach, Hakone Shrine and Lake Ashi. It is run by Japan Guide Stars, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Mount Fuji is 3,776 metres, Japan's highest mountain and an active volcano that last erupted in 1707. Day tours from Tokyo go to the Fuji Five Lakes on its north side, about two hours away: Lake Kawaguchiko for the classic reflection view, Oshino Hakkai's spring-fed ponds, the Chureito Pagoda above Fujiyoshida with the mountain behind it, and often the Fuji Subaru Line to the 5th Station at 2,300 metres when the road is open, roughly April to November. The summit is climbable only in July and August. Fuji is visible on roughly a third of days and most often in winter mornings; from June to September it is hidden in cloud more often than not, and no operator can promise the view, so the lakes and the pagoda are planned as worth the day on their own.

The price covers Lake Ashi Cruise, Ropeway, Round-trip bus transportation from Tokyo and English-speaking guide. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

日本、〒160-0023 東京都新宿区西新宿1丁目22−14 Ntt西新宿ビル. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Japan Guide Stars before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

This was a highlight of our trip to Japan. Ayaka was just the perfect guide for the day. She was informative, energetic, clearly focused on ensuring all 30 of us had a great day out. The secret photo spot offers such a picturesque setting - even if Fuji chooses not to show, definitely book this trip as the escape to Hakone and the wonderful day under such an expert guide was a truly perfect way to spend one of our last days in Japan

We had a very fun day visiting Hakone and taking a look at Mt. Fuji, thanks to our very kind tourguide Ayaka. She was able to tell us a lot about the history of the places we visited and Japan in general. The bus ride was also quite comfortable, thanks to the kind bus driver. Already recommended the tour to a friend who will visit Japan later this year!

Ayaka was a great guide, very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. made the tour a joy to be on. unfortunately mount fuji was covered in cloud, Ayaka said mount fuji is only visible for only 20% of the year, it is just pot luck if you see it. even so the tour, the ship the black ice cream and the sense you were being shown around by a friend rather than guide made up for it.

Anju was an excellent guide. She was accurate and comprehensive. She was also very pleasant. Our trip was fantastic right from the start. We saw many things including clear views of Mount Fuji. The pirate ship was also amazing. We met lots of wonderful people. The shrines were awesome. For the amount of time that was spent we saw much more than I expected. We also tried the black eggs. Hokane was an excellent town. This was a trip with my daughter, which will cherish forever. From Canada.

Although we didn't see Mt fuji - we were close but super foggy, it was an action packed day and Ayaka is a great guide, keeping pace, making sure everyone feels comfortable and supported and is a master storyteller and it truly helps when guides display passion for what they do!! Great day, would recommend!

Our Mt. Fuji day trip was absolutely unforgettable, and a huge part of that was our incredible guide, Ayaka. From start to finish, she made the entire experience engaging, seamless, and truly special. Ayaka didn’t just guide us through the sights around Mount Fuji she brought Japan’s rich history and culture to life with her storytelling. As we traveled, she shared fascinating details about Japanese traditions, historical events, and local customs that gave so much meaning to everything we were seeing. It felt like we weren’t just visiting beautiful locations, but really understanding the hear

Nobody can promise it. Fuji is clear on roughly a third of days, most often on winter mornings, and from June to September it is in cloud more often than not. The tour runs regardless and the lakes, the pagoda and the ropeway are planned to be worth the day without the summit. There is no refund for cloud.

Only during the official season, roughly early July to early September — exact dates are announced each year per route. Outside it the mountain huts close, and climbing becomes a serious mountaineering proposition rather than a hike. A mandatory climbing fee and a daily cap now apply on the Yoshida route, with the other routes following. Full detail in our guide to climbing Mount Fuji.
Counterintuitively, winter — the cold, dry air gives the clearest views, while humid summer haze often hides the mountain entirely. That means the climbing season is also the worst viewing season. Where and when to look is covered in our Mount Fuji viewpoints guide.
An Odakyu pass covering the whole Hakone loop — Tozan railway, cable car, ropeway, Lake Ashi boats and buses — for less than buying the legs separately. How the loop works and which direction to travel it is in getting around Hakone.
It varies. Many traditional baths still refuse tattoos, some now allow them with cover stickers, and a private bath (kashikiri) is the reliable workaround. Bathing etiquette and how to find tattoo-friendly options are in our Hakone onsen guide.
It was listed in 2013 for its influence on art, literature and pilgrimage — not for its geology. That is why the listing includes places like Oshino Hakkai and the Sengen shrines, not just the peak itself. Background in our climbing Mount Fuji guide.
Two days lets you do the loop without rushing and still soak properly in an onsen — a single day works but means moving constantly. Our Hakone 2-day itinerary maps it out hour by hour.
Most Hakone and Mt. Fuji private tours here are priced for the whole party, not per traveller — the operator is providing a vehicle and a guide, so a group of four pays the same as a couple. The exceptions are the group summit climbs, which are genuinely per person. Each tour page states which model applies.
