Full description

This is a 10-hour experience in Mount Fuji, built around Bus/coach, Kōtoku-in and Lake Ashi. It is run by AMIGO TOURS JAPAN GK, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Mount Fuji is 3,776 metres, Japan's highest mountain and an active volcano that last erupted in 1707. Day tours from Tokyo go to the Fuji Five Lakes on its north side, about two hours away: Lake Kawaguchiko for the classic reflection view, Oshino Hakkai's spring-fed ponds, the Chureito Pagoda above Fujiyoshida with the mountain behind it, and often the Fuji Subaru Line to the 5th Station at 2,300 metres when the road is open, roughly April to November. The summit is climbable only in July and August. Fuji is visible on roughly a third of days and most often in winter mornings; from June to September it is hidden in cloud more often than not, and no operator can promise the view, so the lakes and the pagoda are planned as worth the day on their own.

The price covers Bilingual English/Spanish guide, Transportation from the meeting point, Cruise on Lake Ashi, Ticket to Kotoku-in and Lunch in Oshino Hakkai. It does not cover Food and drinks, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

AMIGO TOURS JAPAN GK sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with AMIGO TOURS JAPAN GK before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

My son and I had an amazing time on our Mt. Fuji tour! Our tour guide, Jose, truly made the experience unforgettable. He shared so much fascinating knowledge about Japanese culture, and I was incredibly impressed by his ability to speak Spanish, English, and even a great deal of Japanese. We had a good amount of time to enjoy each stop, take pictures, and explore without feeling rushed. The only minor downside was that the bus was a little warm at times, but it didn’t take away from what was otherwise a wonderful experience. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Japan. Than

Our guide was great and provided tons of knowledge about the areas we visited. We could have spent a little extra time at each location but other than that the trip was well worth it. Loved the boat ride. We were lucky to see Mt. Fuji!

We had an incredible day doing the Tokyo: Mt. Fuji, Kamakura, Big Buddha & Lake Ashi day trip. Fran was our tour guide. He kept things on time and running smoothly. I feel as though each stop was efficient and enough time, as the day is fairly long. I enjoyed sitting in the bus between places. It was a nice break from walking around and taking the trains. My feet and body were thankful for the break. The best part was seeing these highlights that I wouldn’t seen without doing the tour. Thanks to our bus driver and Fran again! They were perfect!

The trip was excellent, getting to Kotoku-In before it gets busy was nice and makes up for the early start The boat trip was short, only 5-10 minutes but there are really nice views during the journey Oshino Hakkai was really nice, a good view of Mt Fuji and it was nice to see the Edo period style buildings The stop in Oishi Park had fantastic views of Mt Fuji It would have been nice to have longer at some stops but it’s understandable with how long a day it already is Definitely a trip I would recommend!

Great trip and great tour guide. Sadly the weather wasn’t the best so there wasn’t the best views of Mount Fuji. At the end of the tour we finally saw it at the last lake stop.

Nobody can promise it. Fuji is clear on roughly a third of days, most often on winter mornings, and from June to September it is in cloud more often than not. The tour runs regardless and the lakes, the pagoda and the ropeway are planned to be worth the day without the summit. There is no refund for cloud.

Only during the official season, roughly early July to early September — exact dates are announced each year per route. Outside it the mountain huts close, and climbing becomes a serious mountaineering proposition rather than a hike. A mandatory climbing fee and a daily cap now apply on the Yoshida route, with the other routes following. Full detail in our guide to climbing Mount Fuji.
Counterintuitively, winter — the cold, dry air gives the clearest views, while humid summer haze often hides the mountain entirely. That means the climbing season is also the worst viewing season. Where and when to look is covered in our Mount Fuji viewpoints guide.
An Odakyu pass covering the whole Hakone loop — Tozan railway, cable car, ropeway, Lake Ashi boats and buses — for less than buying the legs separately. How the loop works and which direction to travel it is in getting around Hakone.
It varies. Many traditional baths still refuse tattoos, some now allow them with cover stickers, and a private bath (kashikiri) is the reliable workaround. Bathing etiquette and how to find tattoo-friendly options are in our Hakone onsen guide.
It was listed in 2013 for its influence on art, literature and pilgrimage — not for its geology. That is why the listing includes places like Oshino Hakkai and the Sengen shrines, not just the peak itself. Background in our climbing Mount Fuji guide.
Two days lets you do the loop without rushing and still soak properly in an onsen — a single day works but means moving constantly. Our Hakone 2-day itinerary maps it out hour by hour.
Most Hakone and Mt. Fuji private tours here are priced for the whole party, not per traveller — the operator is providing a vehicle and a guide, so a group of four pays the same as a couple. The exceptions are the group summit climbs, which are genuinely per person. Each tour page states which model applies.
