Full description

This is a 10-hour experience from Mount Fuji, built around Bus/coach, Lake Kawaguchi and Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway. It is run by Japan Vision Tour, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Mount Fuji is 3,776 metres, Japan's highest mountain and an active volcano that last erupted in 1707. Day tours from Tokyo go to the Fuji Five Lakes on its north side, about two hours away: Lake Kawaguchiko for the classic reflection view, Oshino Hakkai's spring-fed ponds, the Chureito Pagoda above Fujiyoshida with the mountain behind it, and often the Fuji Subaru Line to the 5th Station at 2,300 metres when the road is open, roughly April to November. The summit is climbable only in July and August. Fuji is visible on roughly a third of days and most often in winter mornings; from June to September it is hidden in cloud more often than not, and no operator can promise the view, so the lakes and the pagoda are planned as worth the day on their own.

The price covers Limited Time Free: Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway, bilingual guide, Comfortable vehicle with A/C, Round-trip transfers to and from the meet up location and All taxes. It does not cover Meals and beverages and Other personal expenses, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

Japan Vision Tour sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Japan Vision Tour before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

By far the most interesting guide ever. The whole way, and it's not a short way, he told us interesting things about Fuji. He asked us to sing a "prayer" with him to disperse the clouds and see Fuji, and the "prayer" was the song by Jon Bon Jovi "Livin on a prayer" I can only say that the prayer worked because we are among the 10% of tourists who saw it!Carter Sasaki the best guide, funny, cheerful, kind, unbeatable

Our trip with Akira Wang was such a lovely day out! It was so nice to have a change from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. Fuji was great. We were very lucky with the weather. The high point for me was Oshino Hakkai. I wish we had more time there. Lunch was also very good with lovely service and great food. All in all a fantastic day out! Arigato gozaiimasu, Akira-Sama!

My family and I had a great day. Everything went smoothly and was exactly as expected. We enjoyed all of the sights we saw that day. The schedule is packed. Our guide, Ben was super helpful and knowledgeable. He shared information with us and highlighted things we should try at each stop. He explained everything clearly. This was definitely a memorable experience.

The starting point was easy to find and everything began on time. Taiyo is an excellent tour guide; he took care of everyone, everything and notified us to a very precise detail about our trip. He told fascinating stories about Japanese things and the local areas. It was easy to enjoy this day with his guidance. The whole day was well organised and we felt really welcome. I recommend this activity to everyone who wants a fun day around Mt. Fuji.

Nobody can promise it. Fuji is clear on roughly a third of days, most often on winter mornings, and from June to September it is in cloud more often than not. The tour runs regardless and the lakes, the pagoda and the ropeway are planned to be worth the day without the summit. There is no refund for cloud.

Only during the official season, roughly early July to early September — exact dates are announced each year per route. Outside it the mountain huts close, and climbing becomes a serious mountaineering proposition rather than a hike. A mandatory climbing fee and a daily cap now apply on the Yoshida route, with the other routes following. Full detail in our guide to climbing Mount Fuji.
Counterintuitively, winter — the cold, dry air gives the clearest views, while humid summer haze often hides the mountain entirely. That means the climbing season is also the worst viewing season. Where and when to look is covered in our Mount Fuji viewpoints guide.
An Odakyu pass covering the whole Hakone loop — Tozan railway, cable car, ropeway, Lake Ashi boats and buses — for less than buying the legs separately. How the loop works and which direction to travel it is in getting around Hakone.
It varies. Many traditional baths still refuse tattoos, some now allow them with cover stickers, and a private bath (kashikiri) is the reliable workaround. Bathing etiquette and how to find tattoo-friendly options are in our Hakone onsen guide.
It was listed in 2013 for its influence on art, literature and pilgrimage — not for its geology. That is why the listing includes places like Oshino Hakkai and the Sengen shrines, not just the peak itself. Background in our climbing Mount Fuji guide.
Two days lets you do the loop without rushing and still soak properly in an onsen — a single day works but means moving constantly. Our Hakone 2-day itinerary maps it out hour by hour.
Most Hakone and Mt. Fuji private tours here are priced for the whole party, not per traveller — the operator is providing a vehicle and a guide, so a group of four pays the same as a couple. The exceptions are the group summit climbs, which are genuinely per person. Each tour page states which model applies.
