Full description
This is a 8-hour experience from Nagoya, built around Train, Bus/coach and Shirakawa-go. It is run by AMIGO TOURS JAPAN GK, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Takayama, in the Hida mountains north of Nagoya, kept its Edo-period merchant streets, morning markets and sake breweries, and Shirakawa-go, an hour beyond it, is the UNESCO village of gassho-zukuri farmhouses with steep thatched roofs built for the snow. Day tours from Nagoya, Kanazawa or Takayama itself run to the village; the observation point above it is the view, and winter, when the roofs carry two metres of snow and the village is lit on a few January and February evenings, is the reason many go. Hida beef is the regional food.
The price covers Bilingual guide in Spanish and English, Transportation, Train ticket From/to Kyoto and Entrance to Kenrokuen Garden. It does not cover Food and drinks, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
AMIGO TOURS JAPAN GK sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with AMIGO TOURS JAPAN GK before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Helimar was a great guide. Very informative and enthusiastic. Great day.
Alex was a fantastic guide and managed a good balance between giving information and letting people experience by themselves
What a wonderful day trip to Shirakawago and Kanazawa. Our guide Cesar and our driver were outstanding and so knowledgeable. Our tour was for English and Spanish speaking tourists and the driver spoke only Japanese. Cesar communicated fluently with everyone in all 3 languages. The trip was very informative on both ancient and current customs. We could not have chosen a better guide and safer driver for our trip! We would definitely recommend this trip to all!
Shirakawago is a beautiful village and definitely worth a visit, and Kenroku-en garden was lovely despite the off season visit! The commute from Kyoto was a bit of a challenge, but still definitely worth it. And our guide Alejandro was great and kept everything well organised and interesting, as well as gave us a lot of recommendations for the best food spots! The bus ride was also super comfortable, so special thanks to our driver.
