This is a 1.5-hour experience from Nagoya, built around Tokugawa Park. It is run by DeepExperience, Inc., an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Samurai and ninja experiences are studio classes rather than history tours: an hour or two with an instructor in kendo, iaido sword drawing, or a stage-combat routine, in costume, ending with a photo or a short performance. The better ones are run by trained martial artists and explain the etiquette of the dojo; the weaker ones are photo studios. Sword-cutting sessions with a live katana on rolled tatami mats exist in Tokyo and Kyoto for adults. None of it is dangerous with instruction, and children from about six are welcome in most.
