Full description
This is a 4-hour experience in Nagoya. It is run by True Japan Tour, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Tokyo is the largest city on earth by metropolitan population and it is best seen as a set of neighbourhoods on the Yamanote loop line rather than one place. Asakusa has Senso-ji, the city's oldest temple, and Nakamise's shopping lane; Shibuya has the scramble crossing and Shinjuku the bars of Golden Gai and Omoide Yokocho; Harajuku is Takeshita Street and Meiji Shrine's forest; Akihabara is electronics and anime; Ginza is department stores and sushi counters. Everything runs on time and the last trains are around midnight. Cash still matters in small restaurants, an IC card covers every train and bus, and tipping is not done anywhere.
The price covers For parties of two or more, Grand Sumo Tournament Addmition Fee, Reserved seat at the Sumo Stadium, Tour of the Sumo Museum and English guide. It does not cover Transportation to and from the arena, Personal expenses and Gratuities, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
True Japan Tour sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with True Japan Tour before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Traveler Reviews
What an amazing experience, we were provided one drink of our choice and escorted into the stadium and had free reign after that. Such a special experience to see Sumo at its best and see all the fan fare and ritual and athleticism truly a memorable experience!
The tour was good. Our guide Taka was very nice and knowledgeable. Also his English was good which was helpful.
The sumo tournament was an absolutely incredible experience from start to finish. The seats were amazingly well located and allowed us to fully enjoy the atmosphere, the rituals, and every fight up close. A special thank you to our guide, Kyoko, who truly took great care of us throughout the entire experience. She provided us with documentation about the wrestlers, explained everything along the way, and shared so many fascinating details with us. You could really feel her passion for the world of sumo, and she managed to transmit that passion to us as well. Her enthusiasm and dedication made
Awesome ! So worth it! And I loved the enthusiasm of our Japanese guide too! he was incredible and very funny! I wish I could thank him again for being there and doing his best. Thank you so much for an incredible time! Definitely a Sumo fan now :-)
The experience was amazing and the guide informative, however the price didn’t match the experience/seat
Kenny was very informative about sumo. I recommend him to anyone.
Perfect experience and very nice guide Kenny. He brought me a very good understanding of Sumo and the cultural background
I had a great time, watching an orriginal Sumo tournament wss the highlight of our trip. Our guide, Sanopy, was great. He knew all about it and explained everythjng we saw. Still, highly overpriced
Great experience, got a nice seat and was able to enjoy the tournament. Pricey but it was the only available way to access the tournament
Suzuki was our tour guide and was extremely friendly. Knowing nothing about sumo wrestling, Suzuki provided us with the history & present day information on the sport. It was a fantastic cultural experience!
We had a fantastic time! Our 1st experience attending Grand Sumo Tournament. We booked through GYG. Tour company was True Japan Tour. Our guide was Hiro-San. Very personable, spoke great English. Explained sumo wrestling customs & traditions to us in detail. He clearly enjoyed being at tournament & happily shared many details with us! We had great viewing seats. There were 5 of us on our tour so very personable experience. Arigato gozaimasu Hiro- San for a very fun & enjoyable afternoon…
My family and I absolutely loved our grand sumo experience with Tatsie! She was very knowledgeable about the sport and answered all of our questions. She was early at the meeting spot and we loved the small group size. She helped show us where to park our stroller, making it very easy of an experience to travel with our infant too! We would most certainly book another experience with Tatsie again!! Thank you for an unforgettable experience of a lifetime!!
