Full description
Sapporo has a food culture that is hard to crack from the outside, partly because the best of it happens behind unmarked doors and partly because the menus are rarely in English. This four-hour crawl solves both problems by handing you a local guide who knows which doors to open. Over the course of the evening you move through four different venues and taste more than ten dishes, each place chosen for a different reason and each contributing something the others do not. The guide explains what you are eating and why it matters here, so the meal builds into a picture of the city's food rather than a run of unconnected plates. One of the stops is a proper izakaya, the Japanese pub that anchors the country's drinking culture, and it comes with a sixty-minute all-you-can-drink plan so you can settle in without doing arithmetic every time you order. Walking between venues is part of the experience too, taking you through the parts of central Sapporo where the eating and drinking actually happen after dark. The whole thing works particularly well early in a trip, because once you have been shown how an izakaya menu is structured, what to order and how to ask for it, you can go back on your own for the rest of your stay with a good deal more confidence. Come hungry: ten dishes across four venues adds up to a full evening's eating.

It was a great tour. Our tour guide, Tiger, was courteous and provided us with good information about the food. We were able to try several dishes. Our expectations were exceeded.
The tour turned out to be a private Tour, Just me and Taiga as my Guide. I had a really great time on the tour. We went to 3 different kinds of Restaurants and everything we had was really good. Taiga was also a really great Guide. Thanks for the Tour.
It was amazing! Our guide Suru was knowledgeable and informative, he took us to amazing spots and was able to teach us about the culture and history of Sapporo. Not to mention ordering us amazing food and was very considerate concerning food preferences. Could not recommend a better tour or guide! 10/10!!
The guide on this tour was a local and really knew all the hottest restaurants and food spots in the area, which made the experience truly enjoyable. On many other tours, the food choices and portions are fixed, so you often cannot eat very much or choose what you really want. However, on this tour, we were able to order anything we liked from the regular menu, which was extremely satisfying. I highly recommend this tour.
Taiki was an excellent guide. He was very knowledgeable and selected excellent dishes for us to try. This is a must try for those who’d like to gain a deeper understanding of Sapporo’s food culture.
Tsuru was an excellent guide! This guy is the kindest person, very passionate about what he does and taking the best care of his group. He went far beyond what was expected from a tour guide on a food tour. He also gave us a lot of recommendations for our next days in Sapporo and Hokaido, and sent us our photos. He was a lovely person to talk to about Hokaido, Sapporo and Japan.
Our guide Taiga was fantastic. He organized the tour very well and we had a great time. I was the only participant and Taiga was excellent at catering to our individual needs.
For the price charged it was not value for money at all
