Full description
This is a 75-minute experience in Tokyo. It is run by 料亭都鳥, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Tokyo is the largest city on earth by metropolitan population and it is best seen as a set of neighbourhoods on the Yamanote loop line rather than one place. Asakusa has Senso-ji, the city's oldest temple, and Nakamise's shopping lane; Shibuya has the scramble crossing and Shinjuku the bars of Golden Gai and Omoide Yokocho; Harajuku is Takeshita Street and Meiji Shrine's forest; Akihabara is electronics and anime; Ginza is department stores and sushi counters. Everything runs on time and the last trains are around midnight. Cash still matters in small restaurants, an IC card covers every train and bus, and tipping is not done anywhere.
The price covers 75-minute cultural experience, Meeting with three professional geisha, Dance performance, Live shamisen music and Ozashiki-asobi game. It does not cover transportation to the venue and meals other than sweets, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
料亭都鳥 sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with 料亭都鳥 before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Traveler Reviews
One of the best experiences ever. We booked last minute and were not disappointed. The Geisha’s were amazing and they interacted with us all and answered everyone’s questions. We enjoyed their performances and games. Even got opportunity to take pictures with them. The little presents at the end were a nice touch. Would 100% recommend going and meeting the Geisha’s.
Here’s a polished review you could post: This was by far the best experience I’ve had during my time in Japan. From start to finish, everything was incredibly well organized and thoughtfully planned. All of the geisha were so kind and welcoming, and it was such a privilege to gain a deeper insight into their traditions, culture, and way of life. The performances were beautiful, and being able to interact with them made the experience even more special. The seating arrangement was excellent. Everyone had a clear view without anyone blocking the stage, which made it easy to fully enjoy every mom
This was a truly wonderful experience! Spending an afternoon in the company of geishas in Asakusa, Tokyo, was absolutely incredible. It was amazing to see them in person - they looked stunning with their beautiful traditional outfits, full makeup, and intricate hairstyles. Every gesture and the way they moved was filled with extraordinary grace. During the meeting, I had the opportunity to taste traditional tea with delicious sweets and also try some sake. Playing a traditional game together brought me so much joy. The whole event was accompanied by beautiful, atmospheric music that perfectly
this was a wonderful experience for our family Sadly, Geishas are few and the Geishas here are real, trained Geishas. We had a lot of time to interact and ask questions. The performance was wonderful and we were able to participate in a traditional game. I would highly recommend.
We got to meet three real geishas, and they performed for us, served us tea and treats, and even played a fun rhythm game with us. We also got to ask them questions about what led them to become geishas, and what that culture is like. What an amazing, unique experience--absolutely worth the time and money.
This was a wonderful experience. Perfect for those who want to dip their toes in Geisha culture and learn something new. The performances were lovely and the staff engaging. They were conversant enough in English to make even those with no Japanese language skills comfortable. A great way to get a peek at traditional Japanese art, history, and culture. Highly recommend.
What an amazing experience. It was so lovely to learn about the tradition of the Geisha. The guide was excellent and the Geisha were so engaging.
I highly recommend this experience. Learning about the world of the Geisha and watching them perform was wonderful. It was also very special to be able to ask them personal questions about their life.
This was the best experience ever! I would recommend everyone to do it if you have time.! Great experience and a lot of fun. You are able to try matcha and eat sweet treats with it. Talk with the Geisha and play games with them. They also perform a dance show. I recommend arriving earlier. They provide you with an alcohol drink that you pay for.!Donate and support
