Full description
This is a 2-hour experience from Tokyo, built around Kaminarimon, Nakamise Shopping Street and Sensō-ji Temple. It is run by Japan Guide Stars, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Tokyo is the largest city on earth by metropolitan population and it is best seen as a set of neighbourhoods on the Yamanote loop line rather than one place. Asakusa has Senso-ji, the city's oldest temple, and Nakamise's shopping lane; Shibuya has the scramble crossing and Shinjuku the bars of Golden Gai and Omoide Yokocho; Harajuku is Takeshita Street and Meiji Shrine's forest; Akihabara is electronics and anime; Ginza is department stores and sushi counters. Everything runs on time and the last trains are around midnight. Cash still matters in small restaurants, an IC card covers every train and bus, and tipping is not done anywhere.
The price covers English guide and Explore with a local guide. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
Japan Guide Stars sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Japan Guide Stars before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Excellent tour! Thought of visiting the area on my own, but glad I did the tour instead. Jun was very knowledgeable, kind and with a good sense of humor. Thanks for the links to places to eat! Gracias!! 🙏🏼
We met Jun at the assigned time. I realized later he had taken time to send a WhatsApp notification to assist wayfinding. Jun is local to the area and spoke excellent English. He was able to share lots of information about the oldest temple in Japan as we started on our journey. He had picked out spots to take excellent photos revealing the beauty of the places we were seeing. Then we moved on to the market where he shared insights into some of the iconic snacks and treats from Japan. He gave suggestions about where to eat and shop locally. He was friendly, enthusiastic, and engaged easily wit
Jun and Kaoru (sorry if misspelled) were amazing guides. They described each landmark and local foods in our path. Answered all our questions with patience.

Jun was an excellent and thoughtful tour guide. We learned so much, and he went at our pace and took very good care of us in the heat this morning. Loved the tour and this very kind and personable young man.
