Full description
This is a 1.5-hour experience in Tokyo. It is run by Sushi Matcha (Tokyo Sushi Making Class & Matcha Experience in Asakusa), an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Tokyo's wholesale fish market moved from Tsukiji to Toyosu in 2018, but the Tsukiji Outer Market, the lanes of shops and stalls around the old site, stayed and is where the food walks go: tamagoyaki on a stick, tuna cuts, uni, grilled scallops and knife shops, busiest from about 8:00 to 11:00 and closed on Sundays and some Wednesdays. The tuna auction itself is at Toyosu, watched from a viewing deck before 6:30 with an advance lottery. Sushi classes teach shari, the vinegared rice, and the hand pressure of nigiri; most run two to three hours and you eat what you make.
The price covers Interactive sushi making workshop, 8-10 pieces of Tokyo-style, Sushi chef uniform, Kagami Biraki sake ceremony and Owner's secret sushi recipe & instructions. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

Great way to learn how to make sushi. The best part is that you can eat it afterwards. I wouldn't call it a "cooking class", more like a workshop. Of course it makes sense as we wouldn't be able to prepare rice or cut the fish properly by ourselves.
Very welcoming and nice staff. We felt from the first moment on welcomed. Theexplanation about Sushis history was very interesting. Definitely worth it.
I really loved the Asakusa Tokyo Sushi Making Class: Matcha nad Unlimited Sake! The staff was amazing and created a great, relaxed atmosphere. They explained everything step by step in a very simple way, so it was super easy to follow. I highly recommend this workshop to everyone!
Great value for money and the hosts were very friendly and helpful.
Absolutely wonderful in every way! The warmth and friendliness of Sora and Hono were amazing, and Sora’s authentic , passionate and enthusiastic presentation of the art of sushi making was excellent. Everything was beautifully presented, and we felt privileged to learn a little more about Japanese culture through such a special experience. A truly memorable highlight of our time in Japan. Highly, highly recommend!
Sora was social and very clear with the instructions. It was a fun experience with fresh ingredients.
It was a great event! We learnt about sushi and macha and a few more things in a fun atmosphere! Both teachers Riku and Sora (i hope i didnt misspell!) were fantastic:) Highly recommended!
I booked this last minute and I am so glad I did. All of the instructors were extremely friendly and engaging and we were able to communicate in multiple languages together - Portuguese, English, German and English! It was a great balance between educational and fun, and everything we ate was delicious. Don’t be worried about going alone, just sign up, you won’t regret it! Thank you for the best time 🫶🍣
Sora was really knowledgeable about Sushi and took the time to chat to us and also show us the steps in detail. Great value for money
It was very fun. The chef and his assistant were very welcoming, kind and fun. It was a pleasure to spend an afternoon there. The sushi was amazing & the experience worth doing. Highly recommended!
