Full description
This is a 1-hour experience in Tokyo. It is run by 株式会社木工房蔵, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Tokyo is the largest city on earth by metropolitan population and it is best seen as a set of neighbourhoods on the Yamanote loop line rather than one place. Asakusa has Senso-ji, the city's oldest temple, and Nakamise's shopping lane; Shibuya has the scramble crossing and Shinjuku the bars of Golden Gai and Omoide Yokocho; Harajuku is Takeshita Street and Meiji Shrine's forest; Akihabara is electronics and anime; Ginza is department stores and sushi counters. Everything runs on time and the last trains are around midnight. Cash still matters in small restaurants, an IC card covers every train and bus, and tipping is not done anywhere.
The price covers Chopstick-making workshop, Use of tools and materials, Hand-planing, Take-home chopsticks on the same day and Support from English-speaking staff. It does not cover Personalized engraving: JPY 1,100 and Additional fees for some premium and rare woods *Please, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

This activity was so fun! It’s a great way to escape the heat (or rain) and it comes with a great souvenir. They make it so simple anyone can do it, but it’s still hard enough that it feels like you earned your chopsticks. The staff were all super nice and even took photos for us at the end!
This was such a fun workshop and the perfect addition to your Japan trip. I made black walnut chopsticks and they are beautiful!!
It was really cool to learn a bit about chopsticks and try making them—a unique experience and a unique memento of our time in Japan. I highly recommend it!
Amazing! Love using the chopsticks. Late review but over a year later still using them all the time
It was amazing, both the girls were lovely. We had Tina, and she was a great help. Defiantly recommend
Friendly staff and great selection of wood. Nice 1.5 hours spent making something memorable
We had such a delightful moment, son and father. Our teacher was very patient and dedicated, We learnt a lot. Crafting wood for an hour was very peaceful. And my son was so proud of his work in the end A lovely souvenir.
The experience itself was very enjoyable. However, the guide, who was not Japanese, seemed to follow the process in a somewhat robotic way rather than explaining things naturally. When we encountered an issue with the workstation, she was not able to help us directly and had to ask another staff member for assistance. Overall, we still had a good time, but the guidance could have felt a bit more knowledgeable and personal.
My husband enjoyed it so much that he made a second pair while I finished mine!
Really enjoyed the workshop - felt authentic. Lovely hosts who looked after us very well. Hour long slots but we weren’t rushed out (at 1h20). Chopsticks look great and can be engraved for a small fee (Y1000). Did with kids aged 12 and 14 - both loved it.
Great activity , was a fun experience and the staff where wonderful and very informative
My family had a great time deciding which wood to carve, there were so many great options. It was a fun hands on experience. The finished product looks awesome and is customized to your liking. One recommendation is that the Ginzabashi store give out aprons as you get a little sandy and then also somewhere to wash your hands at the end. But overall would highly recommend!
