Full description
This is a 1.5-hour experience in Tokyo. It is run by AGARTA Inc., an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Tokyo is the largest city on earth by metropolitan population and it is best seen as a set of neighbourhoods on the Yamanote loop line rather than one place. Asakusa has Senso-ji, the city's oldest temple, and Nakamise's shopping lane; Shibuya has the scramble crossing and Shinjuku the bars of Golden Gai and Omoide Yokocho; Harajuku is Takeshita Street and Meiji Shrine's forest; Akihabara is electronics and anime; Ginza is department stores and sushi counters. Everything runs on time and the last trains are around midnight. Cash still matters in small restaurants, an IC card covers every train and bus, and tipping is not done anywhere.
The price covers 90-minute Kintsugi workshop, All necessary tools and materials, Ceramic piece to restore, Expert guidance from instructor and Complimentary soft drink. It does not cover Hotel pickup or drop off, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
AGARTA Inc. sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with AGARTA Inc. before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

I enjoyed my session with Tatsu sensei who was patient and encouraging. It was meditative at times, pasting and drawing lines to highlight the cracks. I am looking forward to going back home to try out on my own. The session was planned with attention to detail. It was well- paced and held in a pleasant atmosphere as well. Highly recommended.
Tatsu our teacher was waiting for us outside his building which was a bonus in busy Tokyo. We were welcomed with good quality coffee while he explained how the lesson would proceed. We had a choice of 2 coloured cracked plates. It was fun and Tatsu helped along the class and told stories about Ginza. He packaged our plates up to protect them ready for our luggage back home. I’d love to come again. Thanks Tatsu 🙏🙏Robyn Knowles
Very fun, the teacher was really great and friendly
A lovely experience. The instructor, Tatsu, was very knowledgeable and gave us a brief overview of why Kintsugi came to be and the process involved in obtaining the material required. Everything you need is provided by Tatsu and each step is fully explained. There were a few Kintsugi classes to choose from, but I would definitely recommend Tatsu’s class. As an extra touristy bonus, Tatsu was also a great source of info on places to go, see and eat in Tokyo.
Tatsu was an excellent teacher, giving us an overview of the history behind Kintsugi, as well as patiently guiding us through our efforts to create our own piece. Your finished piece is packed for you, ready to take away. We had an interesting, enjoyable experience and would definitely recommended it.
This was such a fun class! The time and care our guide put in was clear. He was super knowledgeable and made great conversation. The pieces were packaged up so we could safely take them back home. Thanks!
Very fun! Got sophisticated packaging to keep our stuff safe as well which I’m so surprised. Japanese crafts are always so nice and delicate. I do wish to get more time to be hands on but since someone else was a bit behind it makes sense we would have to wait for him and Teki Sensei had to help us speed things up a bit. Other than that, Teki Sensei was super knowledgeable and friendly, I highly recommend this class if you have not had any kintsugi experience before! Get creative!!!
This classes was great, a great history of the art of Kintsugi. The activity was fun, the kids (10 and 14) had a lot of fun, and the instructor was knowledgeable and helpful and great with the kids. Great reason to be in Ginza and check out the area if high end shopping isn’t your thing.
Loved this class and getting to make our own Kintsugi plates. Great instructor and location.
fantastic instructor, great participants, lots of fun and came home with a lovely plate. Definitely recommend.
Had a great time learning Kintsugi. It was very fun and a great atmosphere! The instructor was very helpful when we had a difficulty and also explained every step nicely. We were given a nice piece of bowl to repair and at the end they packaged it nicely so we can bring it home. A nice drink was also offered during the workshop. Great location too!!
Very nice and humble experience with a great host. Would definitely recommend it to anyone for getting to know a little history and calming down from the big city bustle.
