Full description
This is a 1.5-hour experience in Tokyo. It is run by IKEBANA STUDIO Oraqua, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Tokyo is the largest city on earth by metropolitan population and it is best seen as a set of neighbourhoods on the Yamanote loop line rather than one place. Asakusa has Senso-ji, the city's oldest temple, and Nakamise's shopping lane; Shibuya has the scramble crossing and Shinjuku the bars of Golden Gai and Omoide Yokocho; Harajuku is Takeshita Street and Meiji Shrine's forest; Akihabara is electronics and anime; Ginza is department stores and sushi counters. Everything runs on time and the last trains are around midnight. Cash still matters in small restaurants, an IC card covers every train and bus, and tipping is not done anywhere.
The price covers Seasonal flowers, All necessary tools and Japanese tea served after the experience. It does not cover Transportation to/from the studio, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
IKEBANA STUDIO Oraqua sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with IKEBANA STUDIO Oraqua before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Demi is a very good teacher. He is patient and knowledgeable. I hope that more students take his class. Good activity to have, especially with an elderly person.
Demi was so interesting and skilled at explaining and teaching Ikebana history, techniques and philosophy - a perfect creative experience in a tranquil space. Thank you!
Demi has a very pleasant way of teaching not only the fundamentals of the craft but also the history and different styles of Ikebana. With Guidance and free flow phases you will be able to create your first own beautiful Ikebana. Was such an amazing experience thank you so much. 🙏
Had a great time Demi! He’s so informative, friendly and crazy talented! Clear direction complete with a comprehensive overview via slide show. Outstanding work
We were truly overwhelmed by how much we learned during this course. Ikebana is a beautiful art form that enriches life, and we will definitely continue practicing it when we return home. Everything was explained so clearly, with great passion and enthusiasm. The instructor created a wonderful atmosphere and made this traditional Japanese art both accessible and inspiring. Thank you for this unforgettable experience!
We got a good sense of what ikebana is, and we were able to try out the first level for ourselves with lots of helpful tips. It was really interesting and a lot of fun!
Amazing!I had such a great time at this workshop and enjoyed every single minute of it. I would fully recommend it to anyone thinking about joining. Demi is incredibly welcoming and a fantastic teacher, he created a really relaxed, easy-going atmosphere that made the whole experience even better. Don’t hesitate, just go for it!
Thank you so much for this experience , what we learned was intresting and beautiful. Thank you . Andrea
A fabulous first experience with Ikebana. The patient and enthusiastic teacher is an artist whose sculptural work informs his award winning modern free style. He had me create a basic Ikebana, step-by-step, explaining the rules of proportion and placement clearly. The result was both dramatic and harmonious. His English, while not yet fully fluent, was easy to understand and fully up to the demands of the lesson and discussion of underlying principles.
We had a great time! Our instructor gave us an excellent understanding of Ikebana and guided us every step of the way. He was encouraging and helped us create something unique and special. I highly recommend this activity.
The instructor, Demi, shared the principles of ikebana and guided me in creating a basic composition. He is a skilled practitioner and a great teacher. It was amazing to see the composition look a million times better after a simple adjustment he made. I also got to see an advanced student at work, which further expanded my horizons in understanding the framework and the beauty of this ancient art. A textbook in English is also available to purchase; don’t hesitate to buy it. Thank you very much for a great experience.
This was such an amazing experience. Demi is an artist thru and thru…he is knowledgeable, kind and patient. He creates a nice atmosphere and explain the philosophy as well as the practicality of Ikebana. I got to do my own arrangement and that was such an exhilarating experience. I totally recommend Demi and this studio. Thank you so much 🩵
