Full description
This is a 1-hour experience in Tokyo. It is run by Sushi Making Japan | Cooking Class in Japan, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Tokyo is the largest city on earth by metropolitan population and it is best seen as a set of neighbourhoods on the Yamanote loop line rather than one place. Asakusa has Senso-ji, the city's oldest temple, and Nakamise's shopping lane; Shibuya has the scramble crossing and Shinjuku the bars of Golden Gai and Omoide Yokocho; Harajuku is Takeshita Street and Meiji Shrine's forest; Akihabara is electronics and anime; Ginza is department stores and sushi counters. Everything runs on time and the last trains are around midnight. Cash still matters in small restaurants, an IC card covers every train and bus, and tipping is not done anywhere.
The price covers Cooking class, Ingredients and Instructor. It does not cover Hotel pickup and drop-off, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
Sushi Making Japan | Cooking Class in Japan sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Sushi Making Japan | Cooking Class in Japan before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

I was very happy to discover the matcha world with Sana, it was my first time for drinking matcha and I really enjoyed this experience. I recommand to try it, it will be more easier to buy some matcha in Japan
Really enjoyed the class, the history lesson was a great introduction and our teacher Miu was patient and helpful throughout. Although I don't like matcha, I really enjoyed learning how to make it the traditional way in a calm & fun setting. Would reccommend if you are in Tokyo!!
Sana was so great! She helped to prepare the perfect matcha and gave all the details and history behind! Very lovely experience!
Taro and Momoka (Princess Peach) were wonderful instructors. My kids really loved this experience. The matcha and sweets were delicious as well as learning about the history of matcha. This was a great workshop to start the day. I highly recommend this experience!
Tomona, Koh, Tatsui, Hide amazing job amazing experience !! Love this
It was a great opportunity to learn more about matcha through this hands on experience, my teacher Watanabe was really friendly and fun to talk to.
I had such a good time! The Trainer (Moon) was such a kind and lovely person! Really enjoyed the whole experience a lot and would most definitely recommend it to everyone who is interested in matcha, the history behind it and the process of making it. Thanks again for the experience.
It was a wonderful experience! You learn more than just to make a Matcha, you also learn about the different Matcha Flavours, and History! Our Guide Moon was so supportive and sweet! She made this experience even better and more memorable ! It’s a great Experience, even for those who maybe are not the biggest matcha fan! Thanks again to our Guide Moon, and we hope you have a wonderful time in Germany!🩷 Liebe Grüße
Went to this activity and it was above and beyond. We had an employee called Moon and she was very sweet and patient with teaching us. She taught us from the Matcha history to the process and etiquette of an authentic matcha experience. Complimentary snacks were also prepared along side with the matcha. Do be aware that you can choose different grades of matcha to work with, although you had to pay for it separately, I personally think it was worth it. Overall, it was a great first time experience and nice way to spend your time in Tokyo. Would definitely recommend!
Keisa was very friendly and welcoming. We loved the experience of matcha making as well as the informative history lesson. Our group would absolutely recommend and return again
Hide was an amazing host with a strong knowledge of making matcha and entertaining. I recommend this class to everyone.
It was an incredible experience. Not only were we told how to make matcha, we also got a short history lesson on the importance and usage of Matcha. Both teachers were really nice and patient with us.
