Full description
This is a 1.5-hour experience in Tokyo. It is run by matcha trip, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Tokyo is the largest city on earth by metropolitan population and it is best seen as a set of neighbourhoods on the Yamanote loop line rather than one place. Asakusa has Senso-ji, the city's oldest temple, and Nakamise's shopping lane; Shibuya has the scramble crossing and Shinjuku the bars of Golden Gai and Omoide Yokocho; Harajuku is Takeshita Street and Meiji Shrine's forest; Akihabara is electronics and anime; Ginza is department stores and sushi counters. Everything runs on time and the last trains are around midnight. Cash still matters in small restaurants, an IC card covers every train and bus, and tipping is not done anywhere.
The price covers Welcome drink, Matcha tasting from 5 different production areas, Matcha making experience and Matcha latte and matcha sweets. It does not cover Transportation to the experience location, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
matcha trip sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with matcha trip before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Great sessions! Learnt so much about Matcha and tried so many types. Maybe too many types, but it was great! Recommended wholeheartedly!
We booked a matcha tasting and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. Our guide, a former matcha farmer, shared so much fascinating knowledge about matcha, its production, and the differences between matcha and other types of tea. You could really feel his passion and experience in every part of the tasting. We were able to try 10 different varieties of matcha and evaluate them based on different characteristics, which made the whole experience feel very interactive and special. Afterward, we got to prepare our own matcha latte using our personal favorite blend, which was such
Chisei and Yuka have helped me so much understanding the subtilities of matcha and its rich history. It is definitely a unique activity they share with passion and enthousiasm. I recommend !! Allez y les yeux fermés et faites leur confiance ☺️
Fantastic and highly recommendable Matcha Tasting - we learned so much about different Matcha regions, tastes and also how to best make Matcha at home. Chisei is a wonderful host! Thank you so much!
I love matcha, so it was only right that I book this matcha tasting experience. It was such a pleasure meeting Chisei! I learned so much from him about the tea-making process and the different types of matcha. You get to try various matcha from different regions of Japan while taking notes on each one. Highly recommend for any matcha lover or anyone curious about tea making. Thank you, Chisei and Rina, for the wonderful experience!
It was an amazing experience that made me fall in love with matcha.
My guide was outstanding with taking me through the history and process of making green tea. As a tea lover I really enjoyed trying many different teas. I would highly recommend this tour as it is informative and short enough to do something after the class.
Chisei is very passionate about matcha and tea in general. First of all, everything was insightful; secondly, everything was delicious. 10 kinds of matcha, 6 kinds of matcha latte, and some tea and umami. Highly recommend it to everybody.
I was the only one in my group for the tasting, so it was a one-on-one with the owner. We had a lovely time, and I appreciated his educational material on the origin and history of matcha. The matcha quality was also top notch, as well as the ceramics available for purchase at the end.
An insane variety of matcha — which is good for me as a matcha lover. Learned why the matcha I make at home has no umami taste — and why what Japanese matcha masters have is different. Basically, interesting, tasty and enlightening.
A wonderful activity to do in Toyko if you LOVE matcha like I do! I learned sooo much!
Sehr gute Verkostung und viele Erklärungen. Am Schluss kann man zu fairen Preisen genau den Matcha kaufen, der einem am besten geschmeckt hat.
