This is a 2-hour experience from Tokyo, built around Myth of Tomorrow, Shibuya Crossing and Shibuya Nonbei Yokocho. It is run by Localized Walking, Bike & Food Tours, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Tokyo is the largest city on earth by metropolitan population and it is best seen as a set of neighbourhoods on the Yamanote loop line rather than one place. Asakusa has Senso-ji, the city's oldest temple, and Nakamise's shopping lane; Shibuya has the scramble crossing and Shinjuku the bars of Golden Gai and Omoide Yokocho; Harajuku is Takeshita Street and Meiji Shrine's forest; Akihabara is electronics and anime; Ginza is department stores and sushi counters. Everything runs on time and the last trains are around midnight. Cash still matters in small restaurants, an IC card covers every train and bus, and tipping is not done anywhere.

This Shibuya tour was absolutely fantastic and honestly one of the highlights of my time in Tokyo. It was my only day in the city, and I had four back-to-back tours scheduled, so it was a long and busy day. I ended up being the only person on the tour, and my guide, Loc, was incredibly understanding and flexible about delays, so friendly, and genuinely accommodating. I had the best time on this walking tour! Gray and Soe were brilliant guides who had in-depth knowledge about the area, wider Japanese culture and contemporary issues in the country. My surroundings were brought to life for me in every area we visited and I had questions answered with very informed responses that have helped me understand my time in Japan better. A must do tour for anybody keen to learn more about this fascinating area.
