View all Tokyo toursTokyo Street Go-Kart: Shibuya Crossing and Tokyo Tower Night Ride

Drive a street-legal kart through Shibuya Crossing and past a lit Tokyo Tower, in costume, with a guide leading and shooting photos the whole way.
Highlights
- Cross the world's busiest pedestrian scramble in a street-legal kart
- Night run past Tokyo Tower's 333-metre lit lattice
- Costume included β the full Tokyo kart clichΓ©, done properly
- Guide rides with the group and shoots your photos
- Real public roads, not a closed circuit
Full description
Riding through Tokyo at eye level with the tarmac is a completely different city to the one you see from a train window. The karts are road-registered vehicles, not amusement-park rides, which is exactly why the route can take you through real traffic and across Shibuya Crossing itself rather than around a track.
The circuit strings together the landmarks that actually look good at speed. Tokyo Tower is the high point β 333 metres of orange lattice, taller than the Eiffel Tower it was modelled on, and lit every night. Roppongi's wide avenues let the group spread out, Harajuku tightens everything back up, and Shibuya Crossing arrives as the finale, where a few hundred pedestrians step off the kerb around you.
Your guide rides ahead, sets the pace and stops at the photogenic points to shoot you. Costumes are part of it and are included β this is the thing Tokyo drivers have simply got used to seeing.
One thing to sort before you fly: you cannot do this on your home licence alone. Japan requires an International Driving Permit issued under the 1949 Geneva Convention, carried physically alongside your licence and passport. Get it in your own country before departure β no shop in Tokyo can issue one for you.
Tour Itinerary
The schedule below is a suggested plan and can be adjusted to suit your preferences.
Check-in and paperwork
Licence and IDP check, costume choice, and a briefing on controls and hand signals.
Practice laps
Short shakedown near the garage so everyone is comfortable before hitting traffic.
Roppongi and Tokyo Tower
Wide avenues out to the tower, with a photo stop directly beneath it.
Harajuku to Shibuya Crossing
Tighter streets through Harajuku, finishing with a run across the scramble.
Detailed Itinerary
Arrive twenty minutes before the slot β the licence check is not a formality and anyone without a valid Geneva-Convention IDP is turned away at this point with no refund. Once cleared, you pick a costume, get fitted for a helmet and walk through the controls: these are automatic, single-seat and slower than they feel, but you are in live traffic and hand signals matter.
The practice loop runs on quiet streets by the garage. From there the group forms up behind the guide and heads for Roppongi, where the road opens and the pace picks up. Tokyo Tower is the first real stop β the guide pulls the group into the same spot every night because it is the one angle that gets the whole tower in frame behind the karts.
The return leg cuts through Harajuku and drops into Shibuya. Crossing the scramble is deliberately saved for last. Photos are handed over after you are back at the garage.

Super fun live guide who also tells you a lot about the area. Nice karts, a fun experience, definitely a must. Note that you need an international driver's license.

It was spectacular. We did the sightseeing tour in the morning with a very friendly Spanish-speaking tour guide. I recommend it 100%.
Great activity. The go-karts worked very well with hydraulic brakes that made them very safe to fly through the streets of Tokyo. It's really worth it. Incredible. It's like you're in a video game.
Ken was an incredible guide and the tour was amazing! It was so good to see Tokyo from a different view! I would 10000% recommend this tour and will do again if I come back to Tokyo!

Even though it drizzled a little, we had a fantastic time. Our guide made us feel safe driving through the middle of Tokyo. It was so worth doing.
