Full description
This is a 3-hour experience in Tokyo. It is run by Sushi Making Japan | Cooking Class in Japan, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Tokyo is the largest city on earth by metropolitan population and it is best seen as a set of neighbourhoods on the Yamanote loop line rather than one place. Asakusa has Senso-ji, the city's oldest temple, and Nakamise's shopping lane; Shibuya has the scramble crossing and Shinjuku the bars of Golden Gai and Omoide Yokocho; Harajuku is Takeshita Street and Meiji Shrine's forest; Akihabara is electronics and anime; Ginza is department stores and sushi counters. Everything runs on time and the last trains are around midnight. Cash still matters in small restaurants, an IC card covers every train and bus, and tipping is not done anywhere.
The price covers Sushi making experience, Ramen cooking class, All necessary ingredients and instructor. It does not cover Hotel pickup and drop-off, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
Sushi Making Japan | Cooking Class in Japan sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Sushi Making Japan | Cooking Class in Japan before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

It was the most incredible class!!! I will never forget how special this experience was. My hosts were so warm and knowledgeable. Just the sweetest people. I learned so much and it was so fun. The flow of the class was designed just perfectly. They really pay attention to detail and it’s so well thought out. Trust me, do not hesitate to book this class, it is incredible!!!
great class, very funny and we learned a lot about sushi and ramen. great atmosphere and fantastic food!
I had a really nice time at the Ramen and Sushi cooking class. The kitchen was beautiful and the atmosphere was very friendly and relaxed. I joined the class alone, which felt a little strange at first. But in the end, it felt almost like having my own private cooking class. The recipes were very good and easy to follow, so I can also make them at home. I also really enjoyed the nice conversations about food from all around the world. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience and I had a great time. I would definitely recommend this cooking class!
Gave the course to my husband as a birthday present and we both loved every minute. The girls who gave the course were absolutely lovely and great instructresses. We learned a lot not just about ramen, sushi and sake but also about Japan customs and lots of useful tipps. The food and drinks were delicious and great quality. We laughed and ate a lot, perfect afternoon! Would absolutely recommend it!
It was an amazing experience! The crew was incredibly patient, friendly, and informative throughout the class. Learning how to make both sushi and shoyu ramen in the same session was a fantastic experience. We shared lots of laughs, and they even had a fun little activity to keep everyone entertained while the ramen broth was cooking. The sake tasting was a lovely bonus, and the location was easy to find and very accessible. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Tokyo—it's a fun, memorable, and delicious way to learn about Japanese cuisine!
One of the highlights of our stay in Tokyo. Our instructors were pleasant, informative, and patient. The food we prepared was amazing and we left with recipes to try to recreate at home! Great experience.
We absolutely loved this class! The instructors were so patient and welcoming. They received us timely and also ensured we were safely in our taxi after class. I had never eaten sushi or ramen and to have my first experience include dishes that I helped to prepare will be forever etched in my memory! Thank you so much for such a wonderful experience! I have already encouraged family members who plan to travel to Tokyo to be sure to take this class.
I had a great time. All of our guides were super friendly, and made the experience very fun. They kept talking to each of us, so that it was more like a hangout with friends while also making Sushi and Ramen. The recipes and instructions were easy to follow, and ended up delicously. The informational part was done in form of quizzes, which made learning about it all the more fun and interacting. I can definitely recommend it, and will consider them for future (cooking) classes as well.
We were lucky to be the only participants, so we had a private course. Risa-san and her colleagues were super friendly and shared a lot of information. Their english level was great and the atmosphere was very enjoyable. The Ramen and Sushi we made were delicious. If you already have a fond know-how of cooking these dishes, the course is maybe not the right one as it is rather tailered for people with no to medium knowledge. We would recommend to do it!
Highly recommend this activity! Learning how to make sushi the traditional way was tricky at first, but after a few tries and excellent instructions by our guide, it became quick and satisfying. Plus the fish was so fresh and we made and ate more sushi than I expected. The ramen was delicious and I like how we worked on the broth, while that simmered we went and did sushi. We received the recipes at the end for both, plus gyoza, which I will definitely be making when I return home. Only being a class of 4 allowed us all to take part in the ramen making. Overall, great experience.
This was such a great class! The sushi and ramen were both delicious. They paired each with sake that was really pleasant. Sato is so enthusiastic and seems to love sharing the food and culture. Highly recommend this activity!
