Full description
This is a 2-hour experience in Tokyo, built around Sakurada Tatsumi Yagura, Shiomi Hill and 諏訪の茶屋. It is run by YUMI TOURS JAPAN, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Tokyo is the largest city on earth by metropolitan population and it is best seen as a set of neighbourhoods on the Yamanote loop line rather than one place. Asakusa has Senso-ji, the city's oldest temple, and Nakamise's shopping lane; Shibuya has the scramble crossing and Shinjuku the bars of Golden Gai and Omoide Yokocho; Harajuku is Takeshita Street and Meiji Shrine's forest; Akihabara is electronics and anime; Ginza is department stores and sushi counters. Everything runs on time and the last trains are around midnight. Cash still matters in small restaurants, an IC card covers every train and bus, and tipping is not done anywhere.
The price covers Guided tour of the Imperial Palace East Gardens, Narrative experience focusing on Edo Castle's history and and Exploration of lesser-known stories and cultural concepts. It does not cover Transportation to and from the meeting point and Entrance into the inner palace, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
Starbucks Coffee - Kokyo Gaien Wadakura Fountain Park. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with YUMI TOURS JAPAN before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Traveler Reviews
Lena was a knowledgeable tour guide with a passion for Japanese history. The tour was paced well and ended on a high note in a gorgeous Japanese garden. I would recommend for anyone staying in central Tokyo near the Imperial Palace.
Una visita stupenda, Len la nostra guida e’ stata molto brava a spiegarci la storia di come tutto è stato creato e come si è evoluto negli anni, una bellissima esperienza. Grazie Lena spero che i tuoi sogni si realizzino.
Very interesting and pleasant experience with the guide Sofie! Highly recommended!
Very good, interesting, well thought and well explained
Thomas and Sophie were excellent guides providing a vast range of knowledge (cultural, historical, nature and pop) along the whole way. Also really engaging, fun and positive people. I couldn't recommend enough :)
Such an amazing tour! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and it was so interesting to hear their fun facts alongside their explanations of the history of the Imperial Palace. So glad to of enjoyed the beautiful gardens whilst also walking away with so much knowledge from this tour! I 100% recommend it 😊
it was a rocky start when the original tour guide did not show up but when another guide from the company came she made it a nice informative afternoon.
Our guide was so lovely, he had such great stories about the gardens and castle and was just over all knowledgeable (he knew ball). Would def recommend!
The Imperial Palace gardens were so beautiful, and I had so much fun learning about the different stories and history of the shogun, emperor, and samurai! Our guide Thomas was absolutely amazing!! The group isn’t too big so I could ask lots of questions. I saw other tour groups but no one was as animated or having as much fun as our guide was! He truly is passionate about Japanese history, and I got to learn so much from this. This is absolutely something you must do while in Tokyo, a highlight of my trip.
As someone who rarely goes on guided tours: I highly recommend this one!! The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. I liked the links between Edo period Japan to modern day Japan. Not only did I learn historical facts, the walk itself was very nice and ends in the beautiful east gardens. Book this one if you're in Tokyo! 😊
