Full description

This is a purpose-built Sailor Moon theatre rather than a touring show. It opened at Club eX in the Shinagawa Prince Hotel in 2026, building on the Shining Moon Tokyo production that ran in Azabujuban from 2019, and the story is entirely original — written for this venue and supervised by Naoko Takeuchi, who created the series.

That supervision is the thing that separates it from the enormous amount of unofficial Sailor Moon merchandising you will encounter in Tokyo. It is a sanctioned continuation of the world rather than a tribute act, staged as an immersive live performance in a room designed for it.

The casting is the other unusual feature. Tickets are sold by which guardian is performing — Sailor Moon, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Neptune, Uranus, Saturn or Chibi Moon — so if you have a favourite, you book her date rather than taking whoever happens to be on. Anyone who grew up with the series will understand exactly why that matters.

An original themed drink is included with every ticket, its design and colour matched to the character. Premium seats add a commemorative photograph with the cast, which is the version to take if you are making the trip specifically for this.

The venue is on the third floor of the Shinagawa Prince Hotel annex tower, directly beside Shinagawa Station, so it is easy to reach from anywhere on the Yamanote line and simple to get away from afterwards.

The show runs ninety minutes and is performed in Japanese.

I'm more of a Gundam fan than Sailor Moon, but I watched Saikor Moon in the 90s and it's a very nostalgic series for me. I must say I had a blast from start to finish and I really enjoyed the special effects. I think if you are a Sailor Moon fan visiting Tokyo, you absolutely must go and see the show.

An amazing experience, even for non-Japanese speakers. The performances were fantastic, with great energy, beautiful costumes, and impressive talent on stage. The story was easy to follow thanks to the English subtitles, making the show enjoyable from start to finish. One small tip for future visitors: the theatre can get a bit cold, so it's worth bringing an extra layer to wear.

This was even better than the 2019 show I watched. It was such a fantastic show and worth the money. I would recommend getting premium seats to get the chance for a photo with the cast. Highly recommended!
