Full description
This is a 1-hour experience in Tokyo. It is run by SHIBUI, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Tokyo is the largest city on earth by metropolitan population and it is best seen as a set of neighbourhoods on the Yamanote loop line rather than one place. Asakusa has Senso-ji, the city's oldest temple, and Nakamise's shopping lane; Shibuya has the scramble crossing and Shinjuku the bars of Golden Gai and Omoide Yokocho; Harajuku is Takeshita Street and Meiji Shrine's forest; Akihabara is electronics and anime; Ginza is department stores and sushi counters. Everything runs on time and the last trains are around midnight. Cash still matters in small restaurants, an IC card covers every train and bus, and tipping is not done anywhere.
The price covers Choosing a Kimono: Select your favorite kimono from our, Dressing: A professional dresser will assist you in putting and Photo Shoot: Approximately 15 minutes of photo shooting in. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
SHIBUI sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with SHIBUI before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

This was perfect! So happy we managed to do the dressing before leaving Tokyo. The love we received from the locals was rewarding. The pics came out amazing! Definitely a must do.
Incredible time! The owner is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and the woman who dressed us was very good at her job. We got many beautiful photos, and really enjoyed our time together with the photographer.
Great experience all around. Wife was very happy with their help of picking out Kimono, hair style and accessories. Nice setting for pictures as well. Highly recommend
It was a great experience! Great photos with the family. Nami, Ina and Carmen were very nice. Pictures came out great.
Absolutely amazing! We had the best customer service possible since the moment we arrived. It was such a great time choosing the kimonos (which they have several options), getting dressed and taking the pictures. The attendants were so helpful and were interested in where did we came from, which made the experience better. We are looking for a studio away from Asakusa since Senso-ji is too much crowded, so this is the best place to go if you wish to take professional photos in a more relaxed way, enjoying the moment. One of the biggest highlights of our trip!
I was attended by the nicest staff ever super friendly and kind would recommend and do again!
great experience with very nice ladies that were both professional and kind
Best money I spent on our family vacation. The building doesn’t have any signs so you may feel little lost, but all I did was call the place and the photographer came out to greet us. His wife will help you get dress into the Kimono. She was wonderful. Then we walk to a park near by about 3-5 mins away and there wheres all the pictures are taken. They came out great! Definitely recommend this place. Thank you !
Ladies were nice and professional, knowledgeable and explained the pieces of the kimono wear and some neat cultural things along the way. They dressed us and the photographer walked us to the various locations in the neighborhood for photos. We did have a little bit of a challenge finding the location but I called and was directed where to go (we were right in front and didn’t even know it). The photos are not edited but air dropped directly to you right there. I recommend!
It was very personal and good. I could tell the girl that handled us was working really hard.
People are very kind. Photographies are beautiful. We had a very good time with the staff. Thanks a lot for these precious memories.
This was a great experience! They put you in the kimono (you can customize every single detail), do your hair and go out to take pictures with you. A specially for a solo traveler like me, this was a life saver. This is for people like me, who want to experience wearing a kimono, but don’t want to struggle with it for the whole day. 10/10 recommend!
