Full description
There is no sensible way to describe the samurai show, and that is the point of it. It sits in the basement of a building on Kabukicho's main strip, the room is lined floor to ceiling in mirrors and LED, and for ninety minutes you are subjected to taiko drumming, dancers, costumed performers, laser work and machinery, at a volume that makes conversation optional.
It is the direct descendant of the Robot Restaurant that occupied the same slot in Tokyo's itinerary for a decade, and it is best approached in the same spirit: not as a window into traditional Japan, but as an entirely sincere piece of Kabukicho excess that could not exist anywhere else. People who arrive expecting cultural authenticity leave confused. People who arrive expecting a spectacle leave delighted.
Two drinks are included and you can take them alcoholic or soft. Reception is inside the entrance of the venue on Kabukicho 1-chome, a couple of minutes from Shinjuku Station's east exit, and there is a choice of seating tier at booking.
The practical case for it is that it is short, it is indoors, it runs in the evening, and it is in the middle of the district where you will probably be eating anyway — Omoide Yokocho and Golden Gai are both within a ten-minute walk. Food beyond the drinks is not included and there is no need for it; most people go on to dinner afterwards.
If you dislike loud noise, strobe lighting or crowds, this is not for you and no amount of curiosity will change that.

The Samurai Museum was an excellent experience and one of the highlights of my time in Tokyo. Our guide, Yu, was fantastic, friendly, knowledgeable, and great at bringing the history of the samurai to life. The tour felt like a journey through samurai culture rather than just walking through a museum. I especially enjoyed how interactive it was, with plenty of opportunities for photos and even getting to throw shuriken (throwing stars), which was a lot of fun. Yu made the entire experience engaging from start to finish. I’d highly recommend this museum to anyone visiting Tokyo who wants to learn about samurai history while also having a genuinely fun and memorable experience.

Really entertaining! Had high hopes with so many 5 stars reviews, was spectacle but really didn’t disappoint! Food options aren’t the best, would recommend eating before or after the show.

My friend and I attended and had a blast! It was such a fun show and worth the money to see! The performers were entertaining and the show was just non-stop excitement! Definitely would recommend. Also, thank you to the venue for working with me. I had purchased the 1:40pm show and wasn’t going to make it in time. I emailed and asked if they had availability could they honor our tickets at the 4pm show and they did! So thank you very much for that! Definitely a good show and great customer service!
