Full description
This is a 2-hour experience from Tokyo, built around Tsukiji Hongan-ji and Tsukiji Outer Market. It is run by Traveling Tokyo, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Tokyo's wholesale fish market moved from Tsukiji to Toyosu in 2018, but the Tsukiji Outer Market, the lanes of shops and stalls around the old site, stayed and is where the food walks go: tamagoyaki on a stick, tuna cuts, uni, grilled scallops and knife shops, busiest from about 8:00 to 11:00 and closed on Sundays and some Wednesdays. The tuna auction itself is at Toyosu, watched from a viewing deck before 6:30 with an advance lottery. Sushi classes teach shari, the vinegared rice, and the hand pressure of nigiri; most run two to three hours and you eat what you make.
The price covers guide, Guided walking tour of Tsukiji Hongwanji Temple and the, Visits to local food vendors recommended by your guide and Insights into Tsukiji's history, Japanese food culture. It does not cover Food and drinks, Personal expenses and Tips and gratuities, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
Starbucks Coffee - Tsukiji Station. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Traveling Tokyo before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Traveler Reviews
Tom was an excellent guide with great knowledge. Thank you, Tom, for the enjoyable experience fish market, open market and tasting Kobe beef.
Yayoi-chan was very helpful. The tour was very informative and she definitely made it more fun and interactive. The highlight of the tour was surprisingly the beef. The tuna and oysters were very good as well as the dessert at the end. I'm usually not a big fan of eel but even that was pretty good. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the egg (Yayoi had warned us that it would be sweet). I have to mention that we were running late - Cardinal soon in Japan but Yayoi managed to find us after the temple tour so that we could continue to the market with the rest of the group. We appreciate yo
Ryo was a great guide who took us to the best places where we bought and tried some food. He was friendly and had a good sense of humor which made the visit fun
Excellent tour with Rie. She was knowledgeable and friendly. She took us to some extra stops as we had a bit more time. It was a great experience.
Isobel was an amazing guide for us and I'm very happy with the route she picked out. We bought our own food along the way, and the cost of the experience was worth it for her knowledge. the market would have been very chaotic and I'm don't think I would have had the same experience without her.
Jim made a tour of the makrket lovely. we will be back.
We had an amazing time with Tom, such a great tour and so many interesting facts about Japanese culture! Tom was amazing and the food spots he brought us to were really great
We had a great tour with Rie and enjoyed the recommended food! Would highly recommend!
It was really fun. Our guide was a history major and he had a lot to share. Bring money with you….the waygu stop was incredible (3,000 yen), but pricey. Great group of people. Lots of fun.
Great for the price! Would really recommend this tour :)
Amazing tour, Jim was very knowledgeable with Japanese history and the lore of the area.
