Full description
A 4-day trip out of Aqaba taking in Wild Camp 1 → Red Desert → Wild Camp 2 and Wild Camp 2 → Um Ishrin Valley → Wild Camp 3. There are 2 stops in all.
The running order is Wild Camp 1 → Red Desert → Wild Camp 2, then Wild Camp 2 → Um Ishrin Valley → Wild Camp 3.
The price covers 4-day guided hiking tour, Wild camping overnight, Bedouin meals and Picnic lunches. It does not cover personal expenses, Travel insurance and Wadi Rum entrance fee, so budget for those separately. Two travellers pay $2078 together rather than $1300 each, because this is priced per party and not per head.
Tour Itinerary
The schedule below is a suggested plan and can be adjusted to suit your preferences.
Meeting point → Khazali Canyon → Wild Camp 1
Distance: ~8 km Duration: 3–4 hours Set off from Hasan Zawaideh Camp and hike straight toward Khazali Canyon, a famous spot packed with ancient rock carvings and inscriptions. You can stop for a quick picnic lunch right by the canyon before moving on to a scenic area nearby to pitch your first wild camp. You will spend the rest of the evening relaxing under a massive starry sky and catching the desert sunset.
Wild Camp 1 → Red Desert → Wild Camp 2
Distance: ~10 km Duration: 5–6 hours Wake up, enjoy breakfast and head into the Red Desert, a massive area packed with giant red dunes and sandstone peaks. You will have tons of time to stop, explore, and snap photos along the way. After a picnic lunch right out on the dunes, you will check out amazing spots like the Um Fruth Rock Bridge before pitching your second wild camp. This spot has full panoramic views, making it absolutely perfect for watching the sunset and counting the stars.
Wild Camp 2 → Um Ishrin Valley → Wild Camp 3
Distance: ~9 km Duration: 4–5 hours Hike into the quiet Um Ishrin Valley, a fantastic spot packed with massive sandstone cliffs and hidden canyons. You will stop for a picnic lunch right inside the valley before pushing on to your third wild camping spot. The campsite is surrounded by huge, towering rocks and peaceful desert scenery, making it the perfect place to kick back for the night.
Wild Camp 3 → Light Trek → Return to Meeting Point
Distance: ~6–8 km Duration: 3–4 hours Head out for one last morning walk to check out the nearby viewpoints and snap your final desert photos. After a quick picnic lunch, you will make your way back to Hasan Zawaideh Camp in the afternoon to wrap up your 4-day Wadi Rum trip.
