A 2-day trip out of Almaty taking in Journey into Turgen Gorge, Walk to Bear Waterfall, Off-Road Journey to Assy Plateau and Assy-Turgen Observatory. There are 11 stops in all.

The running order is Journey into Turgen Gorge, then Walk to Bear Waterfall, then Off-Road Journey to Assy Plateau, then Assy-Turgen Observatory, then Dinner and Camp beneath the Stars, and on from there.

The price covers 4WD vehicle transport, Tent camping, Expedition guide and 4wd to Kairak Waterfall. It does not cover travel insurance and Personal expenses, so budget for those separately. Two travellers pay $1495 together rather than $1287 each, because this is priced per party and not per head.

Journey into Turgen Gorge

Meet your guide in Almaty and travel toward the foothills of the Tien Shan. As the city disappears behind us, the road enters Turgen Gorge—a green mountain valley filled with spruce forests, rocky slopes and rushing rivers.

Walk to Bear Waterfall

Follow a scenic forest trail through a narrow side gorge to Bear Waterfall. Feel the cool mountain air, hear the water echo between the cliffs and enjoy time for photographs in one of Turgen’s most atmospheric natural corners.

Off-Road Journey to Assy Plateau

Leave the regular tourist road behind and climb by specially prepared 4WD toward the vast Assy Plateau. The route winds through alpine meadows, rocky tracks and traditional summer pastures, with wide views opening at every turn.

Assy-Turgen Observatory

Reach the remote mountain observatory standing alone above the plateau. Explore the surrounding landscape and enjoy panoramic views across the highlands—an otherworldly setting far from cities, crowds and ordinary tourist routes.

Dinner and Camp beneath the Stars

Travel deep into the Turgen wilderness by specially prepared 4WD. While standard tours reach Kairak only after a long hike, our route continues across rocks, mud and mountain streams, taking you by vehicle directly to this rarely accessible waterfall.

Kairak Waterfall Experience**

Arrive at powerful Kairak Waterfall, hidden among cliffs and Tien Shan spruce forest. Enjoy the roar of the falling water, explore the surroundings and take memorable photographs in a place reached by very few travelers.

Picnic in the Wild**

Enjoy an outdoor picnic surrounded by untouched mountain nature. There are no cafés, crowds or tourist infrastructure here—only forest, fresh air, flowing water and the feeling of being far beyond the usual routes.
