A 2-day trip out of Colombo taking in Galle Fort, Stilt Fisherman, Madu River Boat Safari and Herbal Garden. The longest stop is Upper Diyaluma Waterfall, at about 3 hours. There are 9 stops in all.
The running order is Galle Fort (1h), then Stilt Fisherman (20 min), then Madu River Boat Safari, then Herbal Garden (30 min), then Ravana waterfall (20 min), and on from there.

January to March for the clearest Ella Gap views. June to September is dry but hazy from the Uva wind; October to December is wet. Do everything before nine in the morning. The Gap view is clearer in the morning in every month, Little Adam's Peak has a queue by nine, and the Nine Arch Bridge has hundreds of people on it by ten.
December to March is the driest stretch. Colombo sits on the west coast, so it gets the southwest monsoon roughly May to September — the northeast monsoon (October to January) hits the *other* side of the island instead. Rice and curry is the everyday meal, not a dish — rice with several curries and sambols.
