The running order is Meet and Greet, then Leisurely walk & Temple visit, then Nuwara Elliya & High Tea, then Dambulla Caves & Spice Gardens, then Elephant Jeep Safari & Sigiriya Roac Fortress, and on from there.

Meet and Greet

Lalin will meet you at Bandaranaike (Colombo) Airport, holding a greetings board with your names on and transfer you to Kandy and SWP Ecolodge or similar. He will be standing just beyond the exit from passport control.

Leisurely walk & Temple visit

Leisurely walk around Lake Kandy and visit the Temple of the Tooth, balance of the daytime to explore Kandy.

Nuwara Elliya & High Tea

Travel to Nuwara Elliya (Little England) passing beautifully manicured hill country tea plantations and stopping for a tea tasting. Arriving at Nuwara Elliya, English high tea is served at the 5-star Grand Hotel. Free time and maybe send a post card from the ever so English post office. Return to Kandy.

Dambulla Caves & Spice Gardens

Leave Kandy and travel to Dambulla, on the way stop for a spice garden tour and lunch. In the afternoon visit the Unesco listed Dambula Cave Temples, the largest and best preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The views from atop the rock over the surrounding area are spectacular. Check into Liyya Waters hotel or similar.

Elephant Jeep Safari & Sigiriya Roac Fortress

Early start for the Minnerya Jeep Safari, absolutely guaranteed to see numerous elephants and if you are lucky leopards and sloth bears. A bullock cart ride is included after the Safari. In the afternoon visit Sigiriya Rock Fortress, this spectacular 5th century fortress is another Unesco Listed world heritage site. Return to Liyya Waters hotel

Marissa beach and rest day

Travel out to the coast to Marissa and check into the Surf Sea Breeze hotel or similar. Relax around the pool or on the beach for the afternoon.

Marissa Whale watching

Whale watching, Marissa is the best location for watching in Sri Lanka with Sperm and Blue whales being frequently sighted. Afternoon around the pool or on the beach.

UNESCO World Heritage Galle

An easy drive to Galle Fort, another Unesco World Heritage site and check into the Orchard House hotel or similar. This walled fortress town is a unique blend of Portuguese, Dutch and British colonial architecture. The fort is a highly walkable as there is little traffic on this enclosed peninsula packed with historical sites.

Colombo and farewell dinner

After a leisurely start we drive to Colombo and check into the 160 year old historic Galle Face hotel the oldest and possibly the grandest hotel in Sri Lanka. After check-in a tuktuk tour of hectic Colombo. A farewell buffet dinner is provided at The Veranda Restaurant, an open-air colonial-era dinning space offering sweeping views of the Indian Ocean.
