Full description
Head out from Chiang Mai for a full day exploring Doi Inthanon National Park, home to Thailand's highest peak. Wander the boardwalks of the Ang Ka Nature Trail through cool, moss-draped cloud forest, then visit the twin Grand Pagodas built to honor the King and Queen, with sweeping mountain views from their terraces. Stop in the Karen hill tribe village of Mae Klang Luang before cooling off at the powerful Wachirathan Waterfall. Doi Inthanon was noticeably cooler than the city, such a nice change. The twin pagodas were stunning and our guide explained the significance behind them really well. Waterfall stop was a great photo break too.
Booked the option with entrance fees and hotel pickup included, made the whole day completely stress-free. Guide was knowledgeable about the park's ecology and the hill tribe village stop felt respectful, not exploitative.
Beautiful full day out, the summit area is surprisingly lush and cool for Thailand. Lunch included was tasty. Only wish we'd had a bit more free time at the pagodas since they're so photogenic.
Highest point in Thailand and it really does feel like a different climate up there. Our guide made the boardwalk nature trail interesting with info on the local birds and plants. Well organized from pickup to drop-off.
