Full description
This is a 2-day experience in Chiang Mai, built around Chiang Mai. It is run by Temple of Elephants, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples sit side by side across Japan and the etiquette differs slightly: at a shrine, bow at the torii, rinse hands and mouth at the water basin, then bow twice, clap twice, bow once at the hall; at a temple, no clapping, hands together, and incense if it is offered. Photography is fine outside and usually not inside halls. Zen meditation sessions, zazen, are taught at several Kyoto and Tokyo temples in 30 to 60 minute sittings with the posture explained; a shukubo temple stay adds the morning service and vegetarian shojin ryori. Shoes come off at every hall.
Pickup is offered from Chiang Mai and Chiang Mai; the exact spot and time are agreed with Temple of Elephants once the booking is confirmed, and the option you choose sets whether transport is included.

Forget luxury on this authentic and wild experience. Jack is a nice, small owner of 3 elephants: the mother Wang and her 2 sons, Kemphe et Bamboo. They live in the forest near by his village and he takes care of them, they have a good life, eating sugarcane, bathing in the river and cuddling together, moving around the forest as they please. You will sleep in a clean and safe hut near the waterfall, Jack will cook you dinner under the stars on the fire and you will have the chance to hang out, feed, mud spa and bathe with Jack's "babies". If you wish for a real ethic, small scale experience, y
This trip was AMAZING?l! Chin was the best tour guide, always stopping in the jungle and showing us cool things. The elephant experience was so cool, the elephant is genuinely cared for, you get to feed him, mud spa with him and wash him in the river. A few heads up: - this is quite a serious trek, climbing rocks and crossing rivers - the sleeping is really wild. You are in the tribes ‘hotel’ which is a bamboo shack. - make sure you have a good pair of walking boots and plenty of water to drink. You also need water shoes and swimwear. All in all, this was the best experience we have ever done
A faire absolument !
