Full description
This is a 3-hour experience in Chiang Mai. It is run by CanalTour x ExploreSiam, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples sit side by side across Japan and the etiquette differs slightly: at a shrine, bow at the torii, rinse hands and mouth at the water basin, then bow twice, clap twice, bow once at the hall; at a temple, no clapping, hands together, and incense if it is offered. Photography is fine outside and usually not inside halls. Zen meditation sessions, zazen, are taught at several Kyoto and Tokyo temples in 30 to 60 minute sittings with the posture explained; a shukubo temple stay adds the morning service and vegetarian shojin ryori. Shoes come off at every hall.
The price covers Pick up and drop off from hotel, guide, Transportation by 'songtaew' and One bottle of drinking water. It does not cover Entrance fee Wat Phra That Doi Suthep THB 30.00 per person and Meals, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
Tha Phae Gate. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with CanalTour x ExploreSiam before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Brian was a great guide, very friendly, helpful and informative. All of group enjoyed our tour and his knowledge.
It was a wonderful experience and adventure. Thank you Maggie, she explained to us really good and with many details. I recommend this activity to 100%.
The tour was amazing! The views were foggy but we are in rain season is totally normal. My guide Michele was great, good knowledge and explanations. I learnt about Chiang Mai culture, the road up the mountain is surrounded by nature the temple is beautiful! Thanks Michele and the tour company for a great trip💚
The tour turned out to be a wonderful experience. Communication with the activity provider was excellent as well. I signed up late, and I received an immediate response along with a detailed explanation of the pickup. The ride itself in the open-top vehicle was an experience in its own right. The driver was great, patient, and smiling. Michelle, the guide, was full of knowledge and passion, and she infected us with her enthusiasm and her fascinating stories. She gave every participant the attention they needed. For example, I had difficulty climbing up to the viewpoint, so she patiently accomp
Michelle was a great tour guide and showed us the best views of the temple. Be sure to come in the morning or afternoon for meditation time

Amazing Tour with Bright !!! He knows so much about the Lanna culture, extremely polite and friendly! Thank you so much, we had an amazing experience
Everything was great. Our tourguide Jane was lovely and super educational. We learned a lot about the history of the temple and Chiang Mai, as well as buddhism and the thai way of living. Definitely recommend!
Booked a grouped tour but I was by myself, which it was great. My guide Emy was very knowledgeable and she thought me a lot about history of Doi Suthep as well as some introductions on Buddhism basics. I recommend you take an early tour so there is not many people and you can take nice pictures everywhere. Great overall
Amy was a super guide - very communicative with good English. She was very happy to answer all questions we had and offered to take lots of photos of us. I’ve been to many temples but this was the first time a guide explained how we could shake the bamboo sticks and receive a monk’s blessing.
