Full description
This is a experience in Chiang Mai. It is run by Chiang Mai Footsteps Travel, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Japan's outdoors is organised: trails are marked, mountain huts are booked, and the walking routes with history, the Nakasendo post road between Magome and Tsumago and the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage in Wakayama, are done in comfortable day stages with luggage forwarded. Cycling tours use the flat river paths and back streets that cars avoid. The summer heat from July to September makes early starts essential in the cities and lowlands, while the mountains are cool. Winter turns Hokkaido and Nagano into ski country from December to March, with the powder that Niseko and Hakuba are known for.
The price covers Hotel pickup and drop-off, Guide, Lunch and All entry tickets. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.

Traveler Reviews
Our guide Paul OK-OK was fantastic and made everyone feel welcome and included. The trip was well planned and informative. A ride up to Thailands highest point and a viewing of the large waterfall great for photos. Then to a Karon village to learn a little about the people originally displaced from Burma. We ate a good lunch followed by our trek on the Kew Mae Pan Trial, about 2 miles fully guided with a few up hill sections. Then onto the two pagodas and a visit to the Mong market. A full and enjoyable day. Please tip these folks they are so accommodating.
Very knowledgeable guide that speaks good English and explains the history at multiple spots. This was one of the few tours (or only tour) that offered Kew Mae Pan trail and it was so worth it!
The guide (Steve) was exceptionally helpful and he has deep knowledge about this expedition. Definitely a must go for any traveller to Chiang Mai
Everything was on time, attentive tour host "Paul" making sure everyone ok/present with his happy-goer vibe (can't duplicate his melodic "ok ok" tone!). Paul helps taking photos for everyone when scenic spots needing extra hands/eyes to capture the moments. I got great memory from this tour!
Transport with comfortable bus and driver was driving nice and smoothly. Out guide (Steve) contacted one day before to adjust pickup details. At the beginning he briefly described the agenda of the tour and then, on every stop he was very helpful and said a few words about the place. During the hiking part, he was showing us different flowers and birds. He offers himself to take a photo and explained the different pots in the cafe. We were disappointed a bit that the highest point in Thailad wasn't very spectacular (no panoramic view etc), but the hiking did a thing. Happy that we decided to c
Nice trip, we had enough time on the hotspots and a great day. The bus tour is long, you need the complete day for this tour.
Our guide Steve was fantastic! His instructions were clear all the time and he volunteered excellent background information on nature and culture of the area. The two Hmong mountain trail guides Pen and Pa were also very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed this tour very much, including the visits to the Hmong and Karen villages. Great coffee discovery! The only thing needing improvement is the minivan, which has seen better days. A more modern transport van would be better suited for this long trip with many stops. But overall, we highly recommend this tour!
This was the only one with the Kiw Mae Pan hike. If you hike often, do join this tour for a nice cooling hike. Our guide was Mr. Paul, humourous, patient & awesome, very entertaining guide. First he lead you to a waterfall first, then to a Karen village then to the trail for 2 hours. Later to the summit via the same transport. After this to the king and queen pagoda. Lastly to a road side market which was really great. If you are interested with the Kiw Mae Pan trail, this is what you are looking for. Its a whole day trip, with a group it should be fun. Had a couple of Australians in my tour a
This was a great value day out with an excellent guide, Goi. She made the day; cheerful, organised, helpful and with good English. She guided throughout the day to see the spectacular sights. The lunch was also very nice and very welcome after plenty of climbing the paths around the national park.
The trip was interesting, but it wasn't real trekking, more like an easy walk in the mountains. The guide was very nice and positive, but as usual in Thailand, her English was difficult to understand.
Paul was a great tour guide and we had a great experience on this trip!
