This is a 4-hour experience from Chiang Mai, built around Doi Suthep-Pui National Park and Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. It is run by Sun Leisure World Corporation, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples sit side by side across Japan and the etiquette differs slightly: at a shrine, bow at the torii, rinse hands and mouth at the water basin, then bow twice, clap twice, bow once at the hall; at a temple, no clapping, hands together, and incense if it is offered. Photography is fine outside and usually not inside halls. Zen meditation sessions, zazen, are taught at several Kyoto and Tokyo temples in 30 to 60 minute sittings with the posture explained; a shukubo temple stay adds the morning service and vegetarian shojin ryori. Shoes come off at every hall.

Our visit to Wat Phra Lat and Wat Phra That Doi Suthep was one of the highlights of our time in Chiang Mai. Wat Phra Lat was peaceful, serene, and beautifully nestled in the forest, providing a tranquil atmosphere for reflection. Wat Phra That Doi Suthep was absolutely breathtaking, with its stunning golden stupa, intricate architecture, and incredible panoramic views of Chiang Mai. Very nice and knowledgeable tour guide. We booked last minute and ended up on a private tour. Stunning views of the city and good weather (no rain or clouds blocking the view). You have the option to walk the stairs or cable car. Low season so not too crowded with other tourists which was nice too.

La guide était super intéressante, souriante et patiente et le driver très gentil et aidant. Visites du temple de Doi Suthep, où nous avons été bénis par un Bonze. Inoubliable ! Puis visite en descendant de la montage, le temple Wat Pha Lad au milieu de la nature verdoyante, tellement reposant et paisible, plus humble que les autres. Et pour finir, visite du Wat Phra Singh au cœur de Chiang Mai, absolument magnifique. Une superbe journée !
