Full description
This is a 8.5-hour experience in Chiang Mai, built around ตลาดเจดีย์แม่ครัว, Bua Thong Sticky Waterfalls and Chiang Mai Province. It is run by Elephant Welfare Sanctuary, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples sit side by side across Japan and the etiquette differs slightly: at a shrine, bow at the torii, rinse hands and mouth at the water basin, then bow twice, clap twice, bow once at the hall; at a temple, no clapping, hands together, and incense if it is offered. Photography is fine outside and usually not inside halls. Zen meditation sessions, zazen, are taught at several Kyoto and Tokyo temples in 30 to 60 minute sittings with the posture explained; a shukubo temple stay adds the morning service and vegetarian shojin ryori. Shoes come off at every hall.
Pickup is offered from Wat Khuan Khama, Chiang Mai Boxing Stadium, Wat Santitham, Wat Lok Moli and Wat Dok Kham; the exact spot and time are agreed with Elephant Welfare Sanctuary once the booking is confirmed, and the option you choose sets whether transport is included.
The price covers Food for feeding elephants, All admission fees, Lunch, Elephant caretaker uniforms and Round-trip transfer to and from your hotels / Airbnb /. It does not cover Personal expenses, Any soft drinks and Alcoholic beverages, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
Elephant Welfare Sanctuary sends the meeting point and time by email as soon as the booking is confirmed. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Elephant Welfare Sanctuary before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

We had the most amazing day! Our Guide Pon was so friendly and knowledgeable! the elephant sanctuary was run by a small local family. I would definitely recommend this over a more larger elephant experience. the elephants are free to roam and well looked after. they seemed so happy to have human interaction. absolutely stunning views too! a brilliant ethical sanctuary and a highlight of our trip! the temples were spectacular! so peaceful! We loved this tour! It was much more than we thought! We got to stop at a market, stickey falls and the elephants and see insanely beautiful temples with literally no one else there!
I had such an amazing experience on this elephant sanctuary and waterfall tour! Our guide, Mr. Pom, was extremely kind, caring, and professional from beginning to end. He made me feel completely at home and explained everything so well throughout the day. He also took the most beautiful photos of me and made sure everyone was comfortable and having a great time. You can really tell he loves what he does and genuinely cares about giving people a special experience. This became one of the most unforgettable days of my trip to Thailand, and I’m so grateful to Mr. Pom for making it so memorable. H

I would probably skip the market visit, as I felt it wasn't the best use of our time. Other than that, the tour was great. Our guide was excellent—he was always happy to help, loved talking with everyone, and took a genuine interest in the group. I personally really appreciated that because I enjoy having an interactive guide. The rest of the activities were fun, interesting, and well worth doing. Overall, I had a great time.

Non was an amazing guide. He gave us a lot of Information all the time. A lot of pictures was also taken by him. He even brought my swimming shoes back to the hotel, because i forgot it in the van. The elephants, the temple, everything in this tour was very good. Definitely recommend!

Overall an amazing day with our kind and helpful guide Blue. He explained everything as we went along each excursion, and was really informative and knowledgeable about every bit of detail. The sticky waterfalls were a fun activity to start the day off, then onto the temple which was incredibly tranquil. Then onto the Elephant sanctuary, which was absolutely amazing to see them and the people who run the sanctuary everyday. Would 100% recommend this trip if you’re in Chiang Mai.
Blue was an amazing guide tour from start to finish. Great communication and funny guy! Best way to spend the day and do some lovely activities in chang mai jungles. Sticky waterfalls and elephant sanctuary were the best highlights of our holidays. Elephant sanctuary was ethical and observed in their natural environment Food was included and was delicious & Authentic. Highly recommended anyone up for an adventure!
