Full description
This is a 7.5-hour experience from Chiang Mai, built around View point. It is run by Active Thailand, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.
Japan's outdoors is organised: trails are marked, mountain huts are booked, and the walking routes with history, the Nakasendo post road between Magome and Tsumago and the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage in Wakayama, are done in comfortable day stages with luggage forwarded. Cycling tours use the flat river paths and back streets that cars avoid. The summer heat from July to September makes early starts essential in the cities and lowlands, while the mountains are cool. Winter turns Hokkaido and Nagano into ski country from December to March, with the powder that Niseko and Hakuba are known for.
Pickup is offered from Chiang Mai and Mueang Chiang Mai District; the exact spot and time are agreed with Active Thailand once the booking is confirmed, and the option you choose sets whether transport is included.
The price covers 4+ hour hike, Pickup and drop off, Transportation by a covered pickup truck, Guide/driver and Water and snacks. It does not cover Beverages, Tips or gratuities, Personal expenses and Other meals, so budget for those separately. Everything included is listed in full on this page; if something is not on that list, assume it is not in the price.
Hotel pickup in Chiang Mai. Active Thailand confirms your pickup time and the exact spot once the booking is in. We need at least one day's notice, and we confirm the date with Active Thailand before treating your booking as final. If they cannot take your date we tell you and refund you rather than leave you waiting.

Traveler Reviews
The trekking was very good, the guide was very funny and knowledgeable.. I recommend the tour .
Great tour with lots to see and learn. Our guide could show and explain much. Lunch was delicious. Wear long pants as the vegetation is pretty thick. Recommended!
Very well organised hiking with excellent guider named Sap - funny, a lot of interesting details about nature, culture not only Thai people but something about northern neighbours. I didn’t read details and thought that is a at least 30% demanding hiking so for me enthusiasts this was easy walk. People in group were fully distanced, awkward feeling - in one moment I asked myself- why they go in group instead of individual guided trip - but that’s nothing with organisation.
This trip was excellent. Our guide, Sap was knowledgeable, easy to chat with, his English was excellent and he shared interesting information about the various plants, fruit, herbs etc. We had a great lunch at a mountain lodge with amazing views. Finished off joining in on the new year's festivities in a hill tribe village of the Lahu people. Great day, don't hesitate to book! Thanks Sap
The Tour was amazing! Don't panic if they're a lil bit late, depending on how many people they have to pick up at different locations in the city that can be up to half an hour. Our Guide shared lots of super interesting information and spoke English very well. The drive itself is amazing as well. Shorts will do, but u definitely need anti mosquito spray. Also, bring at least sneakers - they will be very dusty afterwards, tho. The hike itself isn't that exhausting, but definitely not just "walking around" either. Lunch in the mountains was amazing. Worth every penny!:)
Our trek was fascinating. Our guide was very knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and helpful. Highly recommend for a great adventure out in the forest.
Very enjoyable hike through a lush and vivid forrest. througout you encounter a myriad of different plant species, wild tea plantations and fruits
Fantastic trek! The guide was very nice and knowledgeable. We learned a lot about the thai highlands fauna and flora.
Ban was a super cool guide who told us so much about the flora and fauna as well as the living of origin people.
It ended up being a private tour due to lack of bookings but we weren't complaining. The guides were fab, really friendly nice guys. Three (one of the guides) was funny and they were both informative about the flora and fauna in the area. The walk through the lush jungle was stunning. It was a moderate walk with the odd little hilly parts and some slippy parts on the way down so wear good walking shoes but still not too challenging.
This was pretty good if you need a workout on your trip. It would have been nice to be reminded to put extra bug spray on, and let us know when the trail got slippery. Great guide! Nice picnic! Awesome views!
