Three buildings that between them explain how Abu Dhabi sees itself, done in six hours with a guide and an air-conditioned car, starting from an Abu Dhabi hotel rather than from Dubai.
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque comes first and deserves the most time. Forty thousand capacity, the largest hand-knotted carpet in the world in the main hall, and a courtyard whose floral marble inlay most visitors walk across without looking down. Entry is free; an abaya is provided for women and returned afterwards.
Qasr Al Watan is the working presidential palace and is open to visitors — the Great Hall, the library, and a collection of state gifts. It is a genuine palace rather than a museum in a palace, and the scale reads differently once you are inside.
Etihad Towers gives you the observation deck at 300 metres, which is the clearest way to understand the Corniche and the islands beyond it.
⚠️ Two closures to plan around: the mosque does not admit visitors on Friday mornings, and Qasr Al Watan closes for state functions at short notice. Tell us your date and we will confirm both before you pay.

Great day trip for a short stop over in Abu Dhabi, as you get to see most of the major attractions and our guide Ismail was great, he was friendly and very knowledgable. He made the tour extra special, making sure everyone stayed hydrated and finding shade when we were outside in 42 degree heat.
If you are thinking about booking this....do yourself a favour and book it. I had a 13 hour layover in Abu Dhabi and spent the day on this beautiful, amazing tour. Our group had Ismail who was great - awesome energy, super knowledgeable and kept the vibes going all day. He was so super kind and looked after our group.
