An hour on the water circling Louvre Abu Dhabi, which is the perspective the building was designed for and the one almost nobody sees.
Jean Nouvel's dome sits over water deliberately, and its outdoor installations run down to the sea. From a kayak you pass beneath and around them at eye level, close enough to see how the lattice is assembled, while the museum's visitors are inside looking out at you.
The water here is flat and sheltered, so no experience is needed. A guide leads throughout and sets the pace.
Life jackets, waterproof bags and a safety briefing are included, and there is a water refill station rather than bottled water — so bring a bottle you can fill.
⚠️ Two things worth planning. Louvre Abu Dhabi is closed on Mondays; the paddle is unaffected but if you want both, avoid a Monday. And between June and September take the earliest or latest slot available — an hour on open water in Abu Dhabi's midday sun is harder work than it sounds, and there is no shade out there.
Best at either end of the day, when the light comes across the dome at an angle rather than straight down.

It was great to see the Louvre from the water. It provides a completely different perspective, very unique. Make sure to bring a change of clothes, you will be wet as some water runs through the seat. We were guided by Shakil and Waseem. Both seem very professional and well aware of the museum and the construction of it.
Really relaxing and unique experience! I did the 7:30 am tour so the whole area was really quiet but cool to get up close into the Lourve and also to enjoy the sunrise! Would recommend!

Amazing experience to see the museum by kayak, learning about the architecture and history. Bonus was seeing the sunset and beautiful Abu Dhabi skyline throughout. Note the waters can get choppy as you go around, expect to put in quite a bit of effort. Although once you’re within the vicinity of the museum it’s easy and relaxing. The team were friendly and helpful, there an area for you to change and they provide a waterproof bag for your phones should you wish to take photos. All in all, good experience, recommended. Amazing guide. All the staff at the Louvre are very nice.
Great value for money. Ramshat really took his time when paddling around the Louvre, letting us enjoy it as much as we could. We booked a 5 PM slot, and only were 5 people, making it a truly relaxing experience. Can highly recommend!
