Four days covering the three cities that between them explain the Emirates — the one everybody visits, the one that holds the institutions, and the one almost nobody reaches.

Dubai gives you the towers and the old creek town underneath them. Abu Dhabi gives you the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Qasr Al Watan and the Louvre. And Al Ain, ninety minutes inland at the Omani border, gives you what was here before either of them: a UNESCO-listed oasis irrigated by falaj channels that have run for three thousand years, a camel market that is a working market rather than a display, and the fort where Sheikh Zayed was born.

Al Ain is the reason to take this rather than assembling day trips. It is the country's cultural heart and it is genuinely difficult to reach without a vehicle and someone who knows the sites.

We very much enjoyed the 4-day tour through the UAE. Moja (our tour guide) and Balli (our reliable friendly driver) are are the best, and we had so much fun throughout the entire trip. After the tour, we truly felt that we had seen the most important highlights of the UAE, enriched with deep local knowledge and the opportunity to ask questions at any time. Moja is an extremely flexible guide and did everything possible to adapt the tour to our personal preferences, which made the experience even more special. I recommend this trip 200%! Moja is the best guide; he immediately put me at ease! Always cheerful, smiling, and very insightful in his explanations, I loved all the tours we did together. Ballah is an excellent driver, careful and very attentive to ensuring everything went smoothly. I may have had my best vacation ever with them. At the Al Marmoom Domes, Rabbah accompanied me during the activities. He reassured me greatly during the horseback ride, speaks excellent French, and did everything he could to make sure I had the most of it. This trip is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It's absolutely worth it; I'm still starry-eyed. A huge thank you again to Moja, the most professional, kind, and fun guide of all—he made this trip magical!

One thing worth flagging: we build the running order around the Friday and Monday closures. It is the detail guests most often miss on this experience, so it is better read now than discovered on the day.
Longer than the distance suggests, and it is the part people underestimate. Al Ain is roughly 90 minutes to two hours from either city, Hatta about 90 minutes from Dubai, and the east coast around two hours. That travel time is part of the day, not on top of it.
For trips within the UAE, photo ID is sensible but not usually required. Anything crossing into Oman, including some Musandam and border-area routes, requires a passport and can involve visa formalities. Check with us before booking if your route touches the border.
