Full description

An hour on horseback through desert parkland outside the city, which is a quieter proposition than anything else on a Dubai activity list.

The route crosses open scrub and sand tracks rather than dunes, so it works for riders who are not confident — there is a safety briefing, a helmet, and the pace is set by the group. Complete beginners are common and are led rather than left to it.

Afterwards there is a short session on caring for the horse, which sounds like a formality and is the part children remember.

Best in the cooler months and best early. Between June and September this is a sunrise activity or nothing — an hour in the open at an Emirati midday is unpleasant for both you and the animal, and responsible stables do not run it.

Wear long trousers and closed shoes. Riding in shorts is a mistake nobody makes twice.

Lovely stables, horses look well cared for. Horses are well trained and easy going, I took my daughter for the one hour private hack as we are both experienced and we had lots of opportunities to canter for long periods which was great. The guide barely spoke which was a shame otherwise this would have been a fantastic experience. Definitely worth doing whether you experienced or a 1st timer.
