Full description

A flyboard is a board strapped to your feet fed by a jet of water, and it lifts you out of the sea and holds you there. Thirty minutes with an instructor, off the Umm Suqeim coast with the Burj Al Arab behind you.

Nobody flies immediately. The first ten minutes are spent working out balance while the instructor controls the throttle from the boat, and most people are standing steadily by the halfway mark and diving like a dolphin by the end. That progression is the whole appeal.

No experience is needed and you do not need to be a strong swimmer — a life jacket is worn throughout and the instructor is in the water with you.

Photos and videos are taken by the instructor and sent afterwards, which matters here more than on most activities: this is genuinely hard to photograph yourself and it looks far more dramatic than it feels.

Lockers and a changing room with an open shower are provided. Contact lenses are worth swapping for glasses left onshore, or losing.

It was a fantastic experience and I absolutely loved every second of it. Worth the money. And my guide Sampat was patient and he taught only what needed to be taught step by step - by the end of it - I was easily Flyboarding (okay not so easily but airtime increased quite a bit) ! Dil was also very kind and helpful ! 10/10 Experience with Nemo - also go for early morning slot for experience and evening slot for photos - take your pick
