Full description

Seven hours instead of the usual four, and the extra time goes where it matters: you reach the dunes before the convoy of evening trucks, and you are still at the camp when the sky goes properly dark.

The drive out is in a 4WD with the tyres let down for the sand. Dune bashing over the red dunes comes first, then a photo stop on a ridge, sandboarding, and a short camel ride. Quad biking is available as an add-on and is the reason many people choose the longer version — the tracks are quieter earlier in the day.

At the camp the buffet is the full spread rather than a single barbecue line: grills, Arabic mezze, salads, bread from a live station and dessert, eaten on cushions around low tables. Shows run through the evening.

Worth knowing before you book: this is a shared tour, so the vehicle collects several groups and the pickup window is wide — allow for it rather than planning something tight beforehand. Alcohol is not included and is not available at the camp. And if you want the dunes without the bumps, tell us and the driver will keep it mild; nobody is obliged to do the aggressive run.
