Full description
Everybody leaves the desert at ten o'clock. This is the trip where you do not, and the two hours after the coaches pull out are what you are actually paying for — the camp empties, the generators go quiet, and the sky over the Al Lahbab dunes turns into something you cannot see from anywhere near the city.
The afternoon is a standard good safari: 4x4 pickup, dune bashing across the red dunes, sandboarding, a camel ride you can repeat, welcome gahwa and gaymat at the camp, henna, and a barbecue with the evening's shows.
Then the day trippers go and you stay. You sleep in a private air-conditioned tent — a real tent with a bed rather than a mattress on sand — and the morning gives you the desert at sunrise, which almost nobody sees, before breakfast and the drive back. Seventeen hours door to door.
Two honest notes. Alcohol is not included and is not available at the camp. And the quad bike and dune buggy activities are optional extras rather than part of the price, so add them at the option stage if you want them.

Traveler Reviews
Muhammad from OceanAir was extraordinary guide. Prep and comms were thoughtful. We got a great comentary when traveling, learning about landmarks. Our first stop was quad biking - what an experience! My boys, 17 and 10 had a great time. With arabic head scarfs and the awsome kit- we have some great photos. Our second stop was dune bashing & sandboarding- exhiliarting for the boys, Mohammad skills terified me a little 🤩. Once at Al Khayama Camp things got to another level. We had hena, falcon, refreshments & later with magnificent dinner cooked outside, we watched & listen to music, dance, patted stalions, seen camel & the fire show. All were authentic. In the middle of desert oasis, this felt so raw & natural. We spent an evening in the open air desert lounge, stargazing & moon researching. Tried my first shisha. The night in the tent was unforgetable and very comfortable. The cherry on the top was riding camels during the sun rise and a comfy ride back to Dubai. Highly recommend.
An absolutely exceptional experience that wouldn’t have been the same without our Safari Guide, Mansoor Manz and Sanjay.👌⬆️💪 Mansoor Manz is far more than just a drive. A true professional with an incredible feel for the vehicle, always in full control and making the ride both thrilling and completely safe. What impressed us even more was his attitude toward people-extremely caring, attentive, and detail-oriented, constantly making sure we were comfortable and enjoying every moment. His communication was outstanding–friendly, positive, and highly knowledgeable. He shared interesting insights, answered all our questions, and built a strong sense of trust from the very beginning.✅️🛸 Also special thanks to Sanjay at the camp where we spent the evening–attentive, fun, and full of positive energy, making the night even more enjoyable.👌 It’s rare to meet people who combine professionalism, genuine care, and great energy so naturally. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Highly recommended–Mansoor Manz & Sanjay.
Amazing overnight desert camping experience! The views, vibes, and setup were all perfect. Sitting under the stars was the highlight. Highly recommend❤️
Shaukat was an excellent guide that made the trip worthwhile. Would definitely recommend as a must do when in Dubai!
Casio was our guide today it was amazing ! Marwan helped us for the room at night is was good !
Thank you to my brother Abbas Besso that give us a better experience. Everything amazing!
Rashid picked me up punctually at 2 PM – that set the tone. Small group, great atmosphere. He was knowledgeable, relaxed, and genuinely passionate about Dubai’s culture and Bedouin traditions. Conversations with him were worth the trip alone. The tour delivers: quad biking, sandboarding, camel riding (a real highlight), dune bashing, and a generous grilled dinner at a beautiful camp with live Arabic music. The real gem was the overnight stay. After everyone left, I was the only guest. Luxury tent, air conditioning, a small pond, crickets in the background – complete stillness. Sanjit was quietly there if needed. That kind of solitude in the desert is rare and genuinely restorative. Today not a mass-tourism spectacle. An honest, well-run experience with a guide who actually cares. Highly recommended.
Our Guide Mansoor Mans was great. It has been fun.
Really nice experience from pick up at the hotel to driving in the sand with our guide Imran. Very professional and even helping a colleague with flat tire in the dunes. In the camp we benefited from the upper camp to see all the shows (the fire one is great, the others - camel and horse- could be a bit longer), then went into the bottom to see the stars and the moon. Very impressive in the telescope. Greta night in the private tent and wake up in the camel ride before enjoying the breakfast around the pond. Worth staying the night there.
This was such an amazing experience. Definitely our favorite part about visiting Dubai. The people and activities were amazing. Hayley recommend.
