Self-drive on the red dunes with a real choice of machine, and the two are genuinely different rides.

A quad is straddled and steered like a motorbike. You are exposed, you lean into everything, and it is the more physical and more involving of the two.

A side-by-side ATV is a cabin: two seats, a wheel, belts and a roll cage. It is the option for anyone riding with a passenger, anyone nervous about balance, and anyone who would rather be able to talk to the person next to them.

Both go out with an instructor leading and a safety briefing first.

The red dunes at Al Lahbab are the classic Dubai desert — deep colour, steep faces, and firm enough to climb under power.

This is the driving-focused end of the desert market: no camp dinner, no shows, no queue for a buffet. If you want the evening as well, say so and we will price a version that includes it.

This was one of the best guides ever in my life. My wife is somewhat picky and very hard to be amazed. Even she told me she would book the tour again. Our guide Ayuv also did a great job! He called me like 2 ours before and already told me when to expect the arrival of him. He took us to the desert, where we rode the quads for an hour. He helped us with entering, taking pictures and all the kind of things. He even helped me bargain with one of the locals to buy a picture which was amazing. He was also the dune driver who took us to the sandboarding location. He took such good fotos of me and my wife that she still talks about them. The bbq at the camp was also very nice. The show was very cool and a once in a lifetime experience. The whole team was very nice and very kind to us. We can only recommend this for everyone who is going to book a trip to Dubai! We thank Ayub a lot for the help and the tour.

The tour was really nice. We upgraded to buggy - my friends had a hard time driving lol but overall a very nice experience of Dubai Desert. Bishi, our driver and tour guide, was really professional and sets expectations of the tour. Would recommend.

Abbas was amazing! He honestly made us all feel comfortable and safe, best guide to share this experience with and he’s hillarious so makes the journey shorter and even better. Amazing and definitely 5* for him. The experience was also certainly worth every penny.
