Pick-up Hanoi Old Quarter to Ninh Binh
8:00 AM after being collected from the Hanoi Old Quarter, you will embark on your 2.5-hour journey to the Ninh Binh Province. Uncover the cultural and natural heritage of the Ninh Binh province on a guided day trip from Hanoi. Pay a visit to the Bai Dinh Temple Complex, float through the tranquil rivers of Trang An, and climb to the top of Mua Caves for striking panoramic views of rocky hills.
Visit Bai Dinh Pagoda
Get picked up from your hotel in Hanoi and depart toward Ninh Binh. Stop at Bai Dinh, the biggest complex of Buddhist temples in Vietnam, to gaze at the imposing pagoda. See 500 Arhat Statues made out of blue stones, a 36-ton bronze bell, and a 100-ton Buddha statue, rising up to 10 meters.
Lunch and Visit Trang An Boat Tour
Take a lunch break in a local restaurant, with a Vietnamese buffet of goat meat, fish, chicken, and fried rice, as well as vegetarian food options. Continue to the Trang An Landscape Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site featured in the 2017 movie Kong: Skull Island.
Mua Cave and Dinner at Ninh Binh
Hop on a wooden boat to navigate through its quiet rivers, discover mysterious caves, and admire towering limestone karsts covered with tropical plants. Finally, climb up 500 steps to the viewpoint of Mua Caves to marvel at panoramic views of Tam Coc before transfer to Ninh Binh home-stay. You will later spend the night at a home-stay/hotel in Ninh Binh.
Ninh Binh - Ha Long Bay
06:30 - 7:00: Pick up at Ninh Binh & transfer to Halong Bay 11:30: Arrive at the Halong check-in lounge. After boarding the Halong cruise, you will check in. While enjoying welcome drinks, the cruise manager will introduce the itinerary and give a safety briefing. 13:00: You will have time to savor your delicious buffet lunch and enjoy the stunning views as the boat cruises towards the southeast of Halong Bay, passing Fighting- Cock and Finger Islet.
Tung Sau Pearl Farm And Back to Cruise
Then, arrive at Tung Sau to discover a fishing village and farming area. Go kayaking her, then have lunch. Relax on the boat, then visit another cave at 1:30 PM. Afterward, return to the cruise ship for a jacuzzi or to sunbathe. Watch the sunset, then eat dinner, and enjoy some free time.
Ti Top Island
14:30 Hike to the top of Ti Top Island for stunning panoramic views of the Bay. After your hike, go for a refreshing swim in Halong Bay’s emerald waters or sip from a coconut in the shade.
Luon Cave Kayaking
Then kayak or take a bamboo boat to Luon Cave for beautiful views of the bay.
Dinner and Fishing
19:15: Delight in the shimmering atmosphere of thousands of stars while eating a fantastic, expertly prepared dinner. After dinner, enjoy squid fishing.
Tai Chi, Breakfast, Sung Sot Cave
06:00: Warm up your day with a Tai Chi lesson on the sundeck with a breathtaking view as the sun rises on Halong Bay. Light breakfast is served at the restaurant. Your next stop is the magnificent Sung Sot Cave, one of the biggest caves in Ha Long Bay with beautiful stalactites. You will be surprised by the breathtaking panoramic view across the Bay once you exit the cave as well as the stalactites and stalagmites formed over millions of years which have taken on fascinating shapes.
Lunch and Back to Hanoi
Back on board, you settle your bill, check-out and return to Tuan Chau Island. Brunch is served at the restaurant while the boat heads back to the harbor.Get off the cruise ship, then take a limousine bus to Hanoi at 11:50 AM. Finally, finish up your trip at the old quarter of Hanoi at 2:30 PM.

Everything was well organised. Jessica contacted me to let me know details of the itinerary and was available to help with any issues throughout our tour. The activities in Ninh Binh were well organised and worthwhile. Our guide Viet was very engaged and informative. The climb at Mua Caves was steep but worth the beautiful view from the top. Our accommodation in Ninh Binh was lovely. It is a long drive the next day to Halong Bay but the cruise with Athena was very nice. Special mention to Andy from Athena, the cruise director, he was great. Wonderful staff, good food and a lovely balcony room.
My wife and I both had a great time on this tour! We would like to especially shout out our Ninh Binh guide Leo, who did a great job giving us interesting information about a whole range of topics surrounding religion and culture in Vietnam and in keeping the tour on track. Our personal first day highlights were probably the boat trip in Ninh Binh and biking around after we got to hotel to take in the gorgeous scenery.
