This is a 2-day experience from Hanoi, built around Trùng Khánh District. It is run by RED LION TRAVEL, an operator we book with directly rather than through a reseller, which is why we can hold your place with them before we treat your booking as final.

Japanese craft classes are taught by practitioners who have usually done the craft for decades, and they teach it properly: calligraphy begins with how to hold the brush and grind the ink; pottery on the wheel produces a cup that is fired and posted to you weeks later; ikebana teaches the three-line structure of a Sogetsu or Ikenobo arrangement; indigo dyeing and washi papermaking are done in the workshops of the towns that specialise in them. Classes run one to three hours, materials are included, and most welcome children with a parent.
