This was absolutely fantastic. Really interesting and the local family were so welcoming and friendly. Me and my partner have made something will will cherish o top of the memories. 100% recommend!
Most amazing trip we ever had! Gorgeous genuine family business, remarkably professional and super nice people! Guide explained every step, and we worked hands-on in order to forge our own knives. Be prepared to work on the ground, taught every handle in a calm, friendly and informative way. The product is we are taking home with us is not some sh***y touristy stuff, but knives we‘ll use for our lives. We are absolutely stunned and honestly sad we had to leave this authentic and heart-warming family.
Tour guide, Minh provided friendly and professional communication and was very organised. The blacksmiths are brothers working together in their family compound and workshop. They were especially detailed to assure my knife met their high standards. It was great to sit with them between processes, where Minh provided language translation. Easily one of my best memories of Hà Nội. Highly recommend.
There are simply not the words to describe how awesome this was. From the moment Andy contacted us, to meeting Mr. Thanh and his beautiful Family, and through to making our own knives (Ex chef and collectors of kitchen knives), this was a humbling and totally immersive experience. We were assisted by a very talented craftslady, whose names we sadly did not get, to start with our choice of blade style, handle and ferrule, carving it all by hand. Then to the forge with the billet and hand shaping and hardening. the hammer press for flattening is a total sensory experience and this was followed b
Absolute favorite experience from our trip. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He was amazing at translating and genuinely knew a lot about the entire knife making process. The host herself was equally as amazing. She welcomed us into her home and was such an amazing person to learn from. She ships her knifes to chefs around the world. Would highly recommend this experience to anyone.
It was amazing The guide was very nice And the family where we were making our own knives they are the best ❤️ so sweet Me and my son (12 years) enjoyed every minute. Thanks for everything
Making my own cooking knife was a truly unique experience! Our guide Tee was explaining every step and could answer all our questions. The knife making shop is a family business and they were helping and guiding us with great care. Of course they cleaned up our little mistakes and helped us create an amazing knife. I will keep using my knife for the rest of my life and I can only recoomend this activity!
We had Hoang as our guide for the tour, he was great at translating for us and was a very lovely man. The class is based in a family’s residence that has been long established with the knife making trade. The family were so kind, welcoming and knowledgeable. Also very hands on, really makes you appreciate the workmanship. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Very unique experience.
Was a great experience. I got a nice custom knife to use in the kitchen. Will be nice to tell the story of how it was made when cooking for friends.
Brilliant activity! Such a fun time and everyone was lovely
It was just lovely! The guide was very friendly and the family were - despite a little language barrier - so friendly, helpful and just cute 😊 They helped you in every way possible to make a beautiful piece of crafting and I am very happy with the result! The knife I couöd take home is a razor! And I don't say this lightly, I am very delicate with my cooking knives! It is not as "perfect" as a mastercraft from Japan for hundreds of dollars nor a "beautiful" but cheap knife, but it is an original piece and fullfills its purpose more than many other, sometimes expensive knives. And I can't say o
Great activity to learn about knife making! very interesting to go through all the steps of the formation of a knife - learning the type of material they used, to the thinning of the blade and sharpening process. the instructors were very helpful, kind and supportive during the whole process. at the end of it all, you get to keep the knife that you made as well. would definitely recommend and would do it again if the opportunity arises!
